Its the fan and the relay, change both and you are golden

You have to swap out both your Fan & Relays and you'll be good. The source of the problem is caused by the Fan breaking and it starts pulling too much power and it causes the relay to over heat. Eventually turning off. If you don't, your wires and connectors start melting and burning.

Everything was replaced in this case. I'm certain the ecm was messed up so it wasn't being told to turn on anymore. Because it wasn't getting a good ground thru the ecm. Even though it's low voltage ground in the ecm I believe the previous owner did something that caused it to be worse than the usual change the fan and relays. Plus fix burnt harness. In the relay/fuse block. I finally sold the car before I could dive deeper into it. Afterall I only traded for the car because I figured I could sell it quicker than the minivan I traded for it. In hindsight I should've just kept the minivan. Turns out vans are at a huge premium due to people living in them.

How can you tell if its over heating if the temp hands stays right below the half way margin? And will it cause you to get the code p2195 no information available on the scanner? My fan do comes on when i turn the a/c on though.

I had the same problem on my mustang the plug that goes to the Resistor to the radiator fan was burned so I changed the plug and put a new fan fix the problem. High and low speed works .

The same thing happened to my '14 Mustang GT and it's located behind the engine on the passenger side, I switched it out and I thought that would be the end of it but it turned out that it was one of the pins on the plug to the radiator fan that burned out and I fixed it by just cleaning off some of the burnt plastic on the pin and it started to work again for now.

Hey man i have a 2008 Ford Mustang GT/CS With 40K Miles on it Just hopeing another Mustang owner of the S197 family can help me figure out what possibly could be wrong Again my car is a 2008 GT/CS My problem is the car is slowly overheating strangely after my A.C stoped working the car seems to only overheat when at idle But the car WONT overheat while I am driving it any ideas? I would appreciate it Car doesn’t have white smoke out the tailpipes Car haven’t lost any power Car radiator doesn’t have any milky water or cap Car doesn’t have any water bubbles out the radiator But i can smell antifreeze when it starts to overheat

I bought a new fuse box and pin connector, rewired it and it worked beautifully, a year later it did it again. Don't know what to do anymore. I'm thinking of rewiring it to an external fan relay and seeing what happens. If anyone has done that before, mentor me 🙏 please!!. Thinking it's very possible. However, don't know if it will mess anything up if I do it 😮 🤔

I hope you figure out where the problem is. I'm thinking about fixing it correctly and also wiring in a switch on the dash as a fail safe. The cylinder head temp sensor fixed nothing. The gauge still stops at half way. I hard wired a connector onto that pin. It worked briefly. And quit again. I may be looking into some cooling system upgrades in the future.

@@HOODS Awesome so the inline fuse you put in this car has burnt up and has melted where would I find another inline fuse like the one you put in.
@HOODS
@HOODS 2 жыл бұрын
@@justinpardini8160 if your fuse has burnt up then you need to figure out why it burnt up. I'm thinking someone probably put the relays back in the fuse block which will cause this. The fan relays cannot be used in conjunction with the fan switch. The fan only pulls 1 Amp while running so it should never heat up the fuse. You can buy another from any auto parts store. I told the guy I sold it to to not put the relays in. unless he wants to fry the ecm.
@justinpardini8160
@justinpardini8160 2 жыл бұрын
@@HOODS Well no the relays weren't put back in they were out but the guy I got it from put a 50 amp fuse in it would that cause it to burn up putting a bigger amp fuse in it.
@HOODS
@HOODS 2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use anything more than 20 Amp. The fan isn't supposed to draw more than 30 amps at startup. And pulls about 1 Amp running. On high. It shouldn't melt no matter what size fuse is in it unless there's another problem. The fan shouldn't be run all the time either. That's weird cause after I pulled the relays it never even made the wires warm. With the relays in it it was back feeding into the ecm ground and melted the first one. But after pulling the relays I drove it like that for a long time with no issues. Sorry it's giving you trouble.

I recently installed a new engine fan with new resistor on it and immediately I could smell hot wiring and then the fan quit again. I can still use the switch that I have hard wired in on the high fan setting but I also figured out that I have to pull the relays otherwise it back feeds into the ecm. I'm very tempted to just get the painless wiring setup and install that just to do away with whatever problem it is in the system. Only other known issue is the oil sending unit is unhooked due to it being a different oil pan with different bung than it calls for for that year. I haven't even gone down that rabbit hole yet. I should be getting the old blown engine today which hopefully has a good oil pan. And sensor. Then I can see how I want to go about fixing that issue. Oh and the issue of a half completed delete on the intake modulators. It has the delete plates installed but has not been tuned for the delete. So if they have the modulators I will reinstall them till I can afford to unlock the tuner that came with the deal. Once I get it unlocked I'll go down the rabbit hole of tuning.
