Seems he minimizes the importance of addressing cracks. Focuses on superficial cracks. Cracks should be taken seriously. This video doesn’t really help.

Unfortunately, that depends. It's often overused and that gives it the opposite effect. Peeling can occur if you use it too much and it can vary by things like climate, geography, the horse as an individual, etc. It also can't prevent a lot of these issues since they are often from injuries to the hoof, mismanagement of the animal, and things like that.
