Just picked up a 9ft Okuma SST -902ha and its awesome. It’s super slim and feels ultra light. the tip loads up perfect with 3/4-1oz lures and I can still throw 2oz Carolinas !

9’6” Daiwa north MH coast or the Kastking Krome 9’6” MH are good for both rigs. Also, central coast steel head 🙌!!!!! That’s amazing, tearing down some of these damns must be working to restore the population.

Great video.....I use the Okuma 11' M throws 3/4 to 3 oz. I have not had a need to throw a 3 oz. It is sensitive, great back bone, handles large fish with ease and can cast a 110 lure (Calissa and Lucky Craft) between 35 and 40 yards. Under $100.00.

Awesome vid Edward. It’s always good to get a good rod that doesn’t break the bank. It’s cool to see it preform against other more expensive rods and still hold its own. For anglers that want to get into perch fishing that looks like a great option.

I like my rockaway. It’s a MH 11ft it’s rating is like 12-20 pound, 1/4 to like 2 oz don’t really have it near me right now. It’s a good rod for the price and I can cast it far too. It’s strong enough to handle ( big rays) too (I fish in the SF bay often) . Only down side is the reel seat. All my reels feel loose on it.

Are you talking about the Rockaway HD in the 9”6’? I’ve been eyeing the 10”6’ MH. How does it compare to the regular Rockaway?
@matthewzak4190
@matthewzak4190 2 жыл бұрын
@@PeterLebhar I don't think there is much difference in the original vs. HD. Imo. Both are quality rods for the price. Last week a boat pulled my 10'6 into the Sac River and I was unable to get back. Bummed. I hit up Freeport tackle and grabbed HD 9" M action. Oddly I can cast further with it than I could with 10'6.

@@Hook2Cook You say the Alon is used 90% of the time. What happened to the Custom Rainshadow? Retired? Broke or like the Alon better? Asking cuz I might be in the market for a new rod. This video was VERY helpful with that. I'm in SoCal and use a Trifecta, Shimano Clarus and St. Croix in both casting and spinning for the surf. All 9' rods. I did build a Lamiglass Closer 12', but man that thing takes it toll when you try and cast that beast all morning.
