So. Just let me tell you that i am a newbie shisha smoker and this advice took my smoking experience from 2/10 to 5/10 ... it is kinda rediculous how changing the place of the coals and putting them on the side makes it waaaaaaaaaay better. thanks for that and i am going to watch all of your videos when i have the time. its just me or holes on that are too much big coz i see ash getting inside the foil ... my hookah dont have a diffuser so its a problem for me

+Mihir patel This particular hole pattern works well for me as it better allows me to handle the heat management part of it. I can move the coals to the portion of the foil that doesn't have any holes.

What's your opinion on the latch and charcoal screen wind covers? They appear to at least provide some degree of safety if the hookah was bumped over, or something. But how do they perform with heat management? You might do a review? I'm yet to find a video on this topic.

Hi Paul, Very good - appreciated. With that being said - I have two questions: 1. if I manage my coals like you have suggested - since outer bowl is more shallow then a center - I am constantly running into a situation where my shisha in the outer bowl burns out, then I move my coals to a center and when my coals burn out - there is still some shisha in the center which can be smoked, so I add a new coal, but since this is a new coal - even though it is a single coal put on a center - I am getting harsh smoke. Normally I would move this coal to the outer section, but as I said - tobacco in there is already burned out. Any tips with this kind of problem? 2. sometimes I use phunnel bowl which is basically takes 2 coals - my question is this - since it only has shisha in the outer bowl - is it a bad idea to use a single coal placed in a center as center has no shisha?

With a funnel bowl I wouldn't suggest putting the coal right over the spire because then you will be inhaling mostly hot air. I would add the coal as you do, but I would use my windcover to help distribute the heat more evenly.

+Adam Reber Yes. Not too small of a hookah but small hookahs can produce large smokes too.

The smoke depends on the packing of the bowl :) if you can pack good bowls, any hookah will smoke good :)

The height of the hookah does not affect the smoke. The size of the vase(volume) allows for more water which filters and cools the smoke, that is the only way size is important in hookah as far as size of the hookah itself

Don't pack the bowl super tight, keep it loose, also make sure to manage heat correctly and if you want super dense could add some Milk and Ice into the base

I don't really ever do that unless I'm outside. The ash doesn't hurt the session or the tobacco and it's messy to do that inside. There is just the right amount of blowing in my life. :P

I personally don't use milk in the base for many reasons, and I have not heard positive things from using milk in the base.

I"m sorry but I don't quite get your question. Do you mean if you are at a lounge and want more heat? You can always ask your server for another coal, or have them change the bowl for a new one.

Your foil holes are too big, allowing a lot of ash to enter the bawl which will mix with the tobacco and cause an ashy taste !
