Hi Garden Friends! I recently had the opportunity to travel to the Netherlands. I stayed in Amsterdam for 4 days and got to fit in some gardening related things! I enjoyed checking out the Amsterdam bulb and flower market, the public garden at Rijksmuseum, the windmills at Zaanse Schans. I hope to be able to visit Zaanse Schans again someday when their beautiful tulip fields are in bloom. The Anne Frank House was also a very emotional experience and a must see in my opinion. Have you ever been to Amsterdam? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for watching - Steph (Gardening in Massachusetts zone 6b). #gardening My Amazon Store Where You Can Find Many of My Favorite Garden Items: 👉amzn.to/49F9RTU

Thank you so much for sharing your time in The Netherlands. Although we live in Australia, our favourite country is The Netherlands so we absolutely loved seeing it through your eyes. It was so lovely of George to hold down the fort at home for you. Looking forward to your next video as usual. ❤ Love Meg & the pups ❤

Steph it looked like a fun trip. And should you ever want to see Holland domestically, and partake of authentic Dutch food come on over to Holland Michigan, the land of tulip festival in May in conjunction with the Holland Garden Club flower show.. which actually is free. I don't know if you've ever been here but your whole city tour of Amsterdam looked just like the city of Holland. And I live right near two lakes, Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa which forms a triangle. This is zone 6B. I don't know what zone Amsterdam is but it looks like they grow a lot of the same things we have here in the US. And if you're ever here in October you can go to Veldheers... They carry hundreds of tulips and allium and daffodils and whatever else comes in the size of a bulb for planting in your zone.

I went to Amsterdam when i was young. I was there during winter. It was beautiful, but, as an obsessive gardener, I would love to visit again in summer. And, then, Paris again in Fall. I love plants and I’m an artist. So, I hope I get back there. This brought back a lot of wonderful memories with better color! Thanks 29:13

When I did re-enactments I would wear wooden shoes all day. I had heavy socks to cushion my feet but I found them comfortable. I got mine in Holland, Michigan in the 80s and still use them occasionally. What a lovely trip for you.

Hi Stacey, it was a great trip. Thank you!! To bring anything home would have required a certificate for customs. And since I was already at max capacity in my luggage, I didn't want the extra trouble. I went with my favorite line that keeps me from over consumption: "admire, but don't acquire". While this line doesn't help me much in the garden, it helps me very much in other aspects of my life. I very much enjoyed perusing the varieties and seeing what was available and made notes of things I would like to order to try this Fall, mostly alliums etc. Thank you so much for watching 💚

Years ago, when I was spending a year between college and graduate school in England I met a young Dutchman who took me to see the bulb fields in bloom. It was truly a memorable experience. Somewhere there is a snapshot of me jumping onto an enormous pile of tulips that had been deadheaded from the fields. I am glad you enjoyed your trip and hope you get to go back one day to see the tulips in bloom, including Keukenhof.

Enjoyed watching your Amsterdam trip amongst the flowers! I visited last year and as a NE Yankee went gaga in the shops over the vast array of garden bulbs I planned to bring back home on the plane to plant in Western Mass - until a very nice salesman pulled me aside to tell me that I would not be permitted to bring the bulbs home to the US - Sadly US Customs will intercept the bulbs and not allow you to bring them home:-(

My granddaughter danced in the Dutch parade in Holland Michigan for several years. They HAD to be in authentic Dutch dress and part of the official Dutch dress included wooden shoes. You NEEDED to buy them several sizes larger than you normally wear because they are so uncomfortable that most people had to wear multiple layers of socks when wearing them. About nine pair to be comfortable enough to dance through the parade. 🌺💚🙃
