Hey, Robin. Thanks for the video! I love how this looks. I prefer ponchos, so I'm always looking for shawl patterns that can be converted into a poncho. For some reason, I couldn't leave a regular comment. No omnibox was available at the bottom of my screen, so I left my comment here. ❤

When I first started crocheting I thought a linen (moss) stitch shawl would be a good place to start, but I was always so mixed up with the chain spaces and the center point of the shawl that I gave up on it. Honestly wish your video was around then, because this is clear, concise, and makes me want to take a crack at this kind of shawl again. Thank you❣️ 💌💌💌 🧶

Oh, Robin, I just got done doing a yarn project with another person who had me confused at times. It is a breath of fresh air listening to you teach. Your length of time explaining and doing is perfect for me. Now to find some yarn in my stash to do this beautiful shawl. I think I love the edging the most.

I have crocheted since 1967 and I love this pattern. I now consider this one of my go to patterns for special gifts and possible sales. When I work up a portfolio like I had as a photographer,, this will most certainly go into it. No pattern can replace my favorite, the navajo or as it is called today the mosaic, but it comes very close in the top 10 if not top 5. Thank you Robin.

After trying my luck with 3 different tutorials for the lovely moss stitch I went back to your solid granny shawl (for the 3rd time in one month) because the maths was wrong and the yarn was falling apart... Robin, it's coming along beautifully, you are a true gem of dependable patterns, clear instructions and such generous talent. THANK YOU!! Btw when I said the maths was wrong , I meant the construction of the foundation row and the increases did not allow skipping a sc and landing on a ch1 sp in the other tutorials-it's the differential 2sc ch2 2 sc on the bottom, 2csch12sc onthe corners and 1 sc ch2 1sc combo that makes this work. I don't even qualify as a rookie in crocheting (though I learnt it from my granny when I was 8 who was a true master of all things with yarn, but I have 35 yrs of experience in huge spreadsheets that go all the way from Istanbul to London, so I know how patterns should work. And if they don't work in 1 row chances are they will propogate, so best not to copy and paste or try to wing it and just go back and redo the wrong stitch before it becomes too painful:) happy crocheting, ALL!

Is there any magic formula or d'you just leave 1/4 ball or 1/2 or...? Its not a huge deal - I might do a solid colour border, not decided yet - but I just want to make sure I leave enough and please Miss, help Miss. Fang you, Miss 🤗 And seriously, you are a FANTASTIC teacher of this. Hello, Robin - I see from a couple of the most recent comments that you're OK and will be doing more videos. I'm so glad; I really like your style of teaching, and you also have a lovely voice. I have to be very careful what I choose to crochet, because my hands can get quite cranky, so I try to make sure to save working my hands for projects I enjoy - and you always deliver! ;-) Hope you are doing well, and I'm looking forward to hearing and watching your lovely videos again Soon(tm) LOL

This shawl and the colour way of the yarn is so pretty! I would love to use the same brand of yarn but have found the texture of the yarn to be quite silky. I was wondering what type of joining method you use?

Simply amazing! By the way, do you ever get pain in your wrists or hands? If so, what do you recommend? You crochet so smoothly and flawlessly ❤
@HookedbyRobin
@HookedbyRobin Жыл бұрын
I do yes! I have RSI in both elbows and it manifests itself as wrist pain or, when I'm really pushing it, my forearms burn 😅 The only thing that has worked for me is rest. Boring I know! I can't really crochet for longer than an hour or 2 at a time before I need to stop. I've also had some luck using a Thera Band Flex Bar (it's like a rubber bar that you use for twist resistance to help strengthen the wrists / arms) it's just remembering to use it regularly that is my issue with that LOL

I am loving working on this shawl! As I get to the end, how much yarn to I need to save for the edge work if I bought the recommended supplies? (7 balls of yarn)
@BobbieJeanM
@BobbieJeanM 9 ай бұрын
Am I correct in thinking this shawl is worked from what will be the neck/top edge to the back bottom tip of the shawl instead of the way other patterns I have seen that work from the back bottom tip up to the neck/top? I’m a 71 year old beginner so I just want to be sure I understand. 😉🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s beautiful yarn and I love the stitch! 👌💕👍

I've been practicing learning different stitches using your videos because you're the easiest to follow along with since you go nice and slow for us super beginners who are just starting out. Maybe some day you might consider doing a video on how to make a book sleeve cover? I see so many neat designs but many of the channels are hard to follow for different reasons.

@danabolick5154 Жыл бұрын
Guess not quesadilla! I hate autocorrect!
@HookedbyRobin
@HookedbyRobin Жыл бұрын
Lol at your autocorrect! 😅 You could use either really, I'm not sure if it shows how the slow colour change I used starts gradually but as the shawl got bigger, they became more defined stripes which I loved the look of! If you did fancy changing colours you could always incorporate the ends into a fringing around the edge of the scarf? X
