This week I'm on the Stainforth and Keadby Canal at Thorne to do a bit of bread punch fishing.
Ordinarily I'd target this venue with bloodworm and joker at this time of year, however due to the pandemic, there are no supplies available so I decide to go fishing for roach with bread.
Bread punch fishing in winter is cheap and can be an instantaneous bait but sometimes it can be difficult to keep the fish feeding on it all day so with no set plans and a few ideas to try I settle on setting up an additional waggler and maggot line to try and tempt some of the bigger resident roach.
The Stainforth Canal is approximately 8ft deep throughout its length at Thorne and therefore a variety of rigs for bread punch fishing can be required depending on tow and wind conditions.
Watch on to see my approach to bread punch fishing on the Stainy.
