You can get a hose from mr heater that has a quick connect fit to the other side. You won't need a filter with that, but you'll ruin your heater hooking up that way to an off brand hose, no filter. The oils from the hose leech into your propane and clog the pilot.

I have been dealing with these Mr Buddy heaters for 2 years straight I have had a lot of problems I have used the screw on aftermarket filters I have refilled my bottles and I can continuously have problem with oil building up and the pilot light not staying lit they say that the plastic hose softens and the oil comes out of the hose the longer the hose the more of a problem you're going to have you should Mount the tank weigh lower than the heater if at all possible to keep the oil from accumulating in the heater

Furthermore if you want a good reliable cheap source of heat that is hot and dry get a vivo diesel heater air heater from China they are badass you don't have to deal with all the oil and the pilot light and the heater not working when you're in Dyer situations

A fuel filter should be used with all hoses except the Mr. Heater 10 ft. F273704. This hose does not require a fuel filter per Mr. Heater Buddy website................
@phantomfixer
@phantomfixer 4 жыл бұрын
First off you need to add a filter to the heater hose connection, or you will ruin your heater. The ONLY hose you can use Safely with these heaters, without a filter, is the Mr Heater 10 foot hose. Any other hose without a filter, you can kiss your heater goodbye. If you go with the filter instead of the 10 foot hose, you will need to change the filter each season of use, much sooner if you use the heater often with the 20lb tanks.

It has something to do with the material for the hose. The Mr. Heater 10 foot hose (I think it is green) is made of a material that will not degrade when exposed to propane under pressure. The other lengths of Mr. Heater hoses, unless so designated are made of a material that degrades when exposed to the oil in propane gas under pressure. An in-line filter is needed to filter out the oil when using these hoses, they are black in color. I learned this the hard way, the black hoses without a filter would become blocked and unusable after a year or less and the Mr. Heater would become clogged and would not stay lit.
@phantomfixer
@phantomfixer 3 жыл бұрын
@@Dimbochan The hose you need to use without a filter is F273704. If you're using a hose that needs a filter, keep in mind you will have to change the filter each season of use, or if you use the heater often, if you don't pay attention to that, eventually the filter will fill with oil, if that happens, oil will get into the heater, and stop it from working.

The Mr Heater hoses are better but propane can't be 100% contained by any rubber hose and the linings are always susceptible to breakdown and causing contaminates in your heater. For $15 it's just worth it to use a Mr Heater filter. Also turn off the propane at the tank and let it run out of propane to shut it off, this leaves the hose not under pressure and the lines in the heater full of propane that can freeze in very cold weather (-10F or colder, I've seen them too cold to function). Always remove tanks before storing the heater as well. These are great heaters but care and common sense go a long way in keeping them in good condition.

Please get the one with the Regulator at the Tank, it’s not safe to have the full pressure of the tank inside a dwelling. It eliminates the need for a Filter, which he doesn’t have, and the heater will be destroyed the way he is doing it. With the Twenty-foot Hose and Regulator, I have enough hose to thread it through a partially open window.

I'm not sure if I missed it but I didn't see where you put the fuel filter which is imperative for safety as dirt from the fuel will clog up the orifice and it will start to put out carbon monoxide. It should also be noted that the oxygen sensor is not very relevant because you can still be getting carbon monoxide poisoning from that heater while you have oxygen present. This is especially the case with this heater since carbon monoxide is lighter than oxygen and it will build up where you are breathing all the while the heater on the ground is getting plenty of oxygen and will continue to put out a deadly situation of carbon monoxide poisoning. I nearly died from using this heater. These kind of videos are very dangerous because it misinforms and puts people in dangerous situations after making decisions related to what they saw on this video and many others.

The hose he is is using is connected directly to the built in regulator in the big buddy, so he should have used a filter on it. The quick connect type of hose has an in line regulator at the tank so the pressure is reduced before entering the line, which requires no filter.

I read that the Mr. Heater is designed for the high pressure of propane tanks and the hose does not need a regulator. A regulator would result in the pressure being too low? Not 100% sure, info is limited, got to do your research. The Mr. Heater seems deceptively simple and reasonably priced for what it can do in heating, it does sophisticated things especially considering it is extensively used, it does what it says it can do, and it has served many many campers for years. I am convinced that after watching so many of these Buddy Heater Videos, that for the most part, it is FAR SMARTER to just buy a smaller VENT LESS or VENT FREE heater in the range of 10,000 to 20,000 BTU's IF YOU INTEND TO USE LARGER THAN 1 LB propane tanks... (assuming that the reason to use 20lb. or 30lb. or 40lb LP TANKS is to extend the run time of the unit_) Why?? Because you DO NOT really need a FILTER for these free standing heaters... (*in my opinion based on over three years of using a number of these vent less heaters..) Next, the hook ups for a larger unit are much simpler-- all you will need is a 90 degree NPT brass fitting that has a flare fitting (male) on the other end. This attaches to the bottom of the heating unit... (make sure the unit is for LP gas-- some are ready for natural gas)... Next you can use most any length of grille type hose-- readily available at many outdoor supply type store-- and, the plastic normal grille type fitting at one of the hose will screw directly into the outside of the white tank... (the one you use in this video is a reverse thread 5/8ths fitting which is needed for sure on a 100lb LP tanks) and, OH YEAH, be sure to get a hose which has a regulator on it... pretty standard... (may be best to get a two stage regulator, but not really needed) I could go on and on about these things... but I won't... many of you are still going to be LOST in you heads... I see the same old complaints over and over again... If you really have questions, just ask...
