While I love my KW cages, please be aware that their shipping is extremely high, and they surprised me with a $45 customization fee just for changing carpet flooring to vinyl. They are not a consumer-friendly company and offer absolutely no discounts for the average person. I wish I could find a similar cage from a more reputable company, but until then, this is the brand I am forced to recommend. If interested, I encourage you to call/email KW Cages, tell them you saw their beautiful cages shown by Hook's Hollands Ohio Holland Lops and inquire why it costs $45 simply to place a piece of vinyl in a cage instead of carpet and why they offer no discounts for someone buying 20 cages. Ridiculous.

I know this video is rather old and you might not see this, but I just want to say thank you so much for taking amazing and proper care of your bunnies. I'm usually strongly against breeders/rabbitry's. I rescued my bunny from a terrible breeder, my holland lop had mites, a painfully terrible bladder problem, pee stains, and splayed legs. She's will most likely have arthritis because of how she was breed (her spine is terrible). But she's so happy to be free roam and is litter trained. So I'm always skeptical of seeing bunny breeders. But I definitely support you. They look properly loved and cared for and I love that you let them run around and take them outside. It means a lot to me and gives me a piece of mind that their are true bunny lovers out there!!

We are not all bad. I love my bunnies and care for them just as well. I’m dreaming of my bunny room that will be very nice like Hooks. For now that have it pretty well in a nice enclosed, used to be outdoor kitchen with a heater. My bunnies also love their outdoor play area called bunnyland. I would say happy healthy rabbitries don’t make the news. I would say for the most part bunny people do well by their bunnies. The bad breeders make for better news.

You do a phenomenal job educating and showing the day in the life of a bunny, as well as, the dedication and care it takes to keep bunnies happy and thriving. Thanks for sharing this with us! As for FB live videos, you could set up your phone as a mobile hotspot and connect your laptop/computer to the phone. Look up on line for details. Awesome, clean, and super organized rabbitry barn!

@pbandjiang7 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you've solved your Internet issue already. You can have multiple routers connect to the same network as long as you connect them using an ethernet switch. So you can just have a long cable running from your house to the barn and set up a router there to get wireless access. Also love your videos! I've owned a bunny for half a year now, and I took a lot of advice from your videos when I started. Big thanks!
@HooksHollands7 жыл бұрын
Many thanks, Kevin! I actually discovered that my upload speed is terribly slow even not using WiFi (.69Mbps), so until they get a faster speed available way out here in the boonies, I'm stuck with editing videos and uploading I fear. Thanks again. :)
@jjlisa14087 жыл бұрын
You could go Satellite. It is a lot more affordable than it used to be and the speeds are much faster on upload than you currently have. (1-5 Mbps) www.reviews.org/internet-service/best-satellite-internet-providers/ Exede appears to be the fastest. Also on the internet thing. Totally agree with Kevin. You can also use an AC outlet adapter that pushes your internet through your power lines (hard line like you have is best). I use a Linksys adapter for this and then run wires on the other side. Depending on the distance, you can get wireless routers with long range or use extenders... but that's also more radiation in your house. I dial my wifi router power down so that it just reaches my driveway, otherwise I can pick it up in my neighbor across the street's living room. Thank you for your bunny videos. We have a Holland lop, she's about 3 years old now and looks like some of your bunnies. You'll have to explain how your ship bunnies sometime.
@HooksHollands7 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! We have satellite internet now but from a local company - I like to support local businesses, and they have unlimited data. They are constantly expanding their "GenX" network that is about ten times faster for the same price, but we are still too rural to get a good signal (thinking this might be a different type of signal). For the price, I think I'll stick with my current provider and regular videos, but if our speed increases, I'll look into an extender/repeater of some sort. Thanks again!

Also I am not sure if anybody has already answered your question. But if I'm not wrong, all you have to do is get a tiny wireless router and connect it to your hardline. After that you just set it up with a laptop. You'll select a password if you want a private network. On Best Buy's website they have a Netgear wireless router that costs around $30.00 that works fairly well. Here's the link www.bestbuy.com/site/routers/wireless-routers/abcat0503002.c?id=abcat0503002
@HooksHollands7 жыл бұрын
We already have a router in the house and a switch, which is where the barn's ethernet cable is attached. I didn't know if a network can have more than one router. I'm no IT professional, that's for sure! Thanks for your help!
@benkerby48277 жыл бұрын
No problem with having multiple wifi routers on a network. :)
@markx6297 жыл бұрын
You don't want multiple routers on your network. All you need is a wireless access point in/near your barn, connected to your wired network (ethernet). Just to confuse you - you can often use a router as an access point, but it is working in a different mode. I do this myself to extend the wireless network here. You use a different channel from your main wifi but the same SSID and password. [I am an IT professional BTW :-)] And awesome "bunny barn" - top luxury accomodation for rabbits. :-)

Thank you! I won't pretend to understand most of that, but thank you nonetheless. ;)

Why water bottles, why not bowls? Also, I love the cages and at 6:39 did I hear a rabbit purr?
@HooksHollands6 жыл бұрын
Bowls get filled with fur throughout the day, and bunnies certainly don't need to be ingesting more fur that could lead to stasis. Even when cleaned daily, the bowls get messy with fur (and hay and whatever else the bunnies like to drop in them). The bottles provide fur-free water, and the bunnies can even press their mouth against the ball bearing and let it drip out into their mouths. Easy peasy.

hiya! LOVE THE BUNNIES!!!!!I used to have an English Lop when I was a teenager (I think she was an English Lop?!?) she was BIG she was as big as a cat, we lived in a Condo and she had a cage in my room for when I was at school or not home and for bedtime...other then that she was litter trained and jus ran around the house!!! Even up and down the stairs!!! her name was Muffles and she was grey and white and had the adorablest long floppy ears, she was a really really neat pet!!! As for your Internet issue you just need a wireless router, they aren't very expensive, Walmart or Best Buy or whichever electronic stores you have there should have them! LOVE YOUR BUNNY BARN!!! For Wifi, Great vid btw and we love all the videos plus we have some hollands as well. What you can do, is you can go to the nearest tech/electronics store and then pick up a wifi router within in your price range and that has enough wifi range. Then you can plug it into the hardline/ethernet and you can set it up with a password using a computer. That should allow you to use Facebook Live or whatever your needs are.

Angora rabbits are the only one you can really make money off of without selling the rabbit itself. Their fur is very expensive so you can get money out of it. It’s good since if you don’t cut off the hair it will become matted. So there is no point in not selling it when you HAVE to cut the fur.
@annettefinn69343 жыл бұрын
That’s true but it’s a lot of work taking care of there fur brushing it so it doesn’t get matted and of course cut it to sell too

She seems really happy and loves attention and petting. Do you have any advice on making things better for her? How can I clean her ears and butt without stressing her? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I want her to have the very life that she can. I keep her loose in my bedroom while I am home. She loves to follow me around to see what I am doing. It makes me happy to feel needed. My children are grown and they don't need me anymore. I consider all of my pets to be my children.

This is gorgeous!!! I have a question, have you ever had to deal with rabbits that are scared of being picked up? If so, what did you do to calm their fear?
@HooksHollands7 жыл бұрын
I have a few who are legitimately scared of being carried and a couple does who are usually mad that I am bothering them. Either way, when I need to transport them to and from their cages for exercise, I just display confidence and hold them firmly but gently like a football with their head under my arm so they can't see how high they are.
@mackenziet70847 жыл бұрын

Do the rabbits cages ever smell bad because of their pee? I'm looking into getting a holland lop but I'm afraid it might make my room smell (causing the bunny to go to the garage).
@HooksHollands7 жыл бұрын
If you keep the cage clean (changing the litter or bedding every few days), there's barely any smell in my experience.

Emma Bourgeois - I agree with keeping it clean, we only have one bunny and his litter is way nicer to clean then our cat's! cat litter is pretty terrible...bunny litter mostly smells like the earthy pellet type you choose to use

I would venture to guess that rabbits would be the same as any caged animal. If properly maintained & cleaned often, the cages won't smell. They just require dedication. (Please correct me if I am wrong 😉)

If you have a hardline out to the barn, I'd say use a wi-fi extender hooked up to it if you're using a phone or tablet. If a computer use a switch and hook up another ethernet to that computer. I'm not the most intelligent on the predicament but as long as your Internet is well off then the stream should work fine. (My apologies if I'm incorrect I've only been involved with networking for a few months).
@HooksHollands7 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I have no clue about networks, but I do just want to use my Droid phone over WiFi (if it's fast enough) to broadcast live videos.

Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops If your internet speed is around 30 Megabits/second the stream should be just fine. Maybe even 20 Megabits. We used to have 5 Megabits and it was just horrible to do anything. (Just in case you don't know 30 Megabits = 3 Megabytes per second).

Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops You're very welcome.
I don’t think you’ll see this, but if you do, a way to get a rabbit to stop peeing in the cage, and go in the litter box, you can put puppy pads because there is an attractant in it that will make them go on the puppy pad. Hope this helps! It really works for my Flemish Giants. On question, do you show these rabbits?

Do they eat the puppy pads? That would be my only concern, as rabbits chew anything they can. I used to show my rabbits but didn't enjoy the atmosphere.

I don't have anything available now, I'm sorry. I do have a waiting list, but it's well into the summer at this point.

What color is Mabel? My mom wants another Holland lop that color! My bunnies name is cuddles, what color is Mabel.

Mable is a sable point. That's one of my favorite colors too, but it's hard to get it that clean genetically. Her mother was a ruby-eyed white, which is why her coloring is so bright.

What temperature is good for baby rabbits and what temperature is too cold /hot for them? I just lose 4 bunnies this week I don’t want to lose the 2 I have left , that was way too painful

Nice new cages and bunnies! May i ask why you changed cages? I thought your old ones were really cool! especially with the waste disposal system! Also, you can maybe look for wifi extenders on amazon? I have one and you only need to plug it to an outlet and set it up to connect to your wifi or you can even use your ethernet cable to it. I'm not super tech savy but I know there's thousands of reviews for the top wifi extenders that's sure to help you out!

The old cages were a lot easier to keep clean, but I wanted larger cages with solid floors for the bunnies' comfort and to help with litter training since most of my bunnies ended up sold as pets instead of to other breeders.

get a wireless router with a good range to cover the barn
@HooksHollands4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I have since installed a router in the barn...but the internet is still pretty slow because of our rural location.

Is there a significant reason you decided to change the cages? The ones before were much easier to clean right?
@HooksHollands7 жыл бұрын
Totally - this decision was made completely for the bunnies' happiness and health. It makes a LOT more work for me, but they have solid floor cages, more room, and it opens up the barn for a larger exercise area. Plus, the babies should be well on their way to being litter trained when they go to their new homes.

Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops That's really admirable, its very rare to find breeders that care so much about the happiness of their animals. The place where I got my lops and Netherlands dwarfs was horrific. She had them all in a dark shed with no air conditioning in the middle of summer, and it looked like she hadn't picked up the feces in several weeks (NOT AN EXAGGERATION) I'm having horrible flashbacks thinking about it now, this was a whole 6 years ago 😖 We bought two Netherlands dwarfs and felt so bad for the rabbits that we went back to buy two holland lops. Which is a bit dumb in hindsight because we were really just supporting that treatment even more, but I'm glad that they're able to live a much safer happier life now. Sorry, didn't mean to ramble haha

Thank you. I have been to two different breeders' barns that are just as you described - both smelled so badly of ammonia, had no sunlight, and tiny cages. Even more, they would give their culls to snake breeders. I just can't do that - if I can't use the bunny for breeding, I sell it as a pet to a carefully selected pet home. To each his own, I suppose.
