I’m a 90s kid, now 35, and to be honest I truly miss the magic and romance of Dating in the late 90s and early 2000s. Girls (and men) used to be so much dedicated to the moment, I’ll never forget the late night dinner and subsequent adventures going out with a girl, walking the streets late, visiting the cinema, running through the park in the dark, making out by the beach under the moonlight, wow what a time. Also how I met love of my life (we broke up unfortunately a decade later) now I’m trying to date again and it’s the most sad and pathetic, hook up culture the obsession with social media, tik tok, getting likes, speed dating, too much focus on sex and the attitude of girls, the texting game leaving you on read for days and ghosting you etc, has put me off dating for the foreseeable future

Born in 94, so i grew up in the 2000’s. I was always shy and introverted. I never asked my crush out because i was always afraid of rejection. I grew up with autism and I wasn’t socially accepted for my quirks. I had to work on my social life; going to parties, to the mountains, beaches with a group of friends and actually socialize. I never really had the courage to ask anyone out, i was bullied, made fun of, rejected, ridiculed by my cousins and peers growing up. I am an extremely quiet person. But when came to girls, they were actually friendly to talk to. I’ve made a lot of friends with girls. Being on the football team and coming out of my shell bit by bit. But that was all taken away from me when my family had gotten into trouble with drugs. We were couch surfing and that took a toll on my self esteem. I went through trauma for years until i made friends again. Went to college. Girls were still nice. Then covid happened. After covid nothing has been the same. Girls are snobbish. Even the nice ones are more reserved than they were before. Everything on social media is so political now. Transgenderism is more apparent. Female empowerment is in every new movie you see. Feminism and the red pill movement is very annoying. My way of life has changed drastically. And he is right. We should be adapting to it rather than being mad at it.. it’s gonna be harder the notion of being a good man isn’t enough anymore.. you gotta be some kind of alpha male..

I have a few questions. Im a male and im extremely confused about this one particular girl that i like. So we have been best friends for well over a year texting and calling each other non stop with LONG conversations on text and in person. And my question is (i might be a bit bold) does she like me? Good sounding signs: We hang out regularly, she is really open about her secrets with me (that she doesn't tell her girl firends), she does the touching thing like on the arm or leg when laughing, eye contact isnt common due to both her and i are shy and avoid eye contact with everyone. Next things that im gonna mention might be common but are not where i live in due to religion and stuff so keep that in mind. She gets in my car no matter the time (as long as its not too late (9/10PM) strict rules here) she lets me hug her, rests her head against me (although rare) she lets me play with her cheek (on the face) and ears (it might be weird but i love her little ears and "puffy" cheeks) she has interest of what i love and she sometimes brings food that i love, she does get close to me lbut im the one that does it mostly, sometimes if there is snacks between us she may remove them to get in closer, when its cold she tends to snuggle untill i hug her, we watch movies and sports together. Now the not good part: Very rarely but she might mention her ex (my best friend), again rarely but she mentions types of boys that she likes even if she knows she is out of their league (junior football players in another country) i have the feeling that she uses me as a "time pass"/"sadness relieve" like we hang out and she is open about problems and we get close and the next day she is cold (only over text tho) (and i am a HUGE overthinker) she might rejected to hang out just because she is too lazy for that (VERY rare. Mostly is i gotta do this or that) and a bit of a backstory for the end. I did ask her out about 3 years ago and got rejected. But we weren't close (just had mutual friends) and i just said that i liked her and specifically said that im not in love and just attracted. And thats it. The beauty of true love has been mutilated. recently had a ex dump me, when I tried to plead, I called her phone she picked up and she was moaning fucking another guy cause I heard the other guy yell wow. Treated her right, Never cheated on her, bought her food, drove her places, drove 70 miles to go see her, gave her a valentines gift and she dropped off my valentines gifts on my door step after the break up. None of these women should be taken seriously. I just had one today tell me she isn't interested in me romantically. I been rejected so many times, it didn't phase me at all. I already have 3 more dates lined up. A woman could be 10/10 attracted to you, then one day later, loses ALL attraction for you because of boredom. It doesn't take much.

@@ShiniGorky187 that’s what gets me though man is that it takes little to nothing to lose them and their attraction toward you. Like hey I get what your saying and I understand your point of view. Believe me I’ve had more sex from all of it but in the end I just feel alone on how I feel about that person. I don’t value sex without feelings, it’s something I shared with another that made what we were special to it being nothing but flesh up against flesh. I can’t have sex casually I’m too sentimental to do that, I even told them that hey I don’t have sex unless I really care or love you and they pushed me too feeling that way, then when I let that door open they leave, they lost the interest of the chase and abandon what was created. To me it’s a tragedy, because I don’t always show care to anyone and when I do I mean it genuinely, I’ve been there for both of them in their darkest hours comforting them during mental breakdowns and even when they cried, but when I’m in my darkest hour, I’m alone and left, I feel this dereliction has scared me. I sometimes have a thought where If I don’t find true love in 10 years or less I probably will voluntarily off myself. Rather be dead then be a part of a fake simulation or temporary delusion of what this society calls “love”, I don’t want to live in world where hate, disdain, and contempt are easier to obtain then love. Sorry but I’m still in grief, cried many times, gotten drunk till I blackout or puke. I want to have hope but everything around me makes pessimism and cynicism more credible.
