I just found this video and it’s very timely for me. I’ve been on Amazon trying to decide which basket to buy, thanks for this info. 🙂

I just upsized to the IMS triple basket for a couple reasons, 1) I really enjoy dark roast and can only fit 16.5g in the double basket that came with the barista express, and 2) I have been making myself 2 separate 16.5g shots each morning before work. Can’t wait to cut out that extra time and enjoy my espresso all at once😂

I use H32 basket for larger lattes or iced coffees.

Hi liked the video so much I subscribed. I LOVE coffee and triple shot would be great instead of me pulling 2 double shots for my morning expresso. But my 54 mm Breville portafilter is too short for a triple basket. What brand of a naked portafilter would you recommend to pair with the IMS triple shot basket? Had a very heavy Delonghi for 18 years and it finally died. So I purchased a Bambino Plus because of the small amount of counter space I have available now. I’m pulling good shots after taking that black disk with a hole that Breville put in the portafilter. Thank you again, great video!

I just purchased a Bambino Plus. What is the largest cup you’ve been able to use successfully? I want to move up from Breville 2 shot basket.

Hi thank you for the video. I have Breville Express and using single basket non pressurized. The volume setting on the grinder I set to mininal and it gives me about 9 grams of coffee. In terms of final results I agree its difficult and I get two good shots out of ten 😊. But I always prepare coffee only for one person so using double basket sounds like too much coffee for one person. I would have a suggestion for video: how to prepare best espresso for somebody who like to use the least coffeine/ least amount of coffee, for example - if there exist some basket in 54mm for a range of 9-13g for single person that do not want to use 18g but 7g is too little - the goal to mitigate problems with single 7g basket i.e. dialing in would be easier.

I think studies show the single dose baskets don’t work as well, the coffee bed isn’t thick enough and leads to difficult shots For example coffee shops only use double basket and split the cup Maybe try to save the 2nd shot for iced coffee in the afternoon

@@dylan-nguyen Not true. The standard basket in Italy are single shots. When I was in Rome a couple months ago, that's all I saw. But I find it really interesting because it means that you can have more espresso throughout the day, so your caffeine is more balanced, and for us, you get more PRACTICE shots! So it has its ups and downsides, but it is a really interesting idea, although it's uncommon in American culture.

@@Jordan-rb28 they could be pulling single shots for the history but shot to shot its better to split a double shot than to do a single shot that's why the common portafilter has a Y, you can put two shot glasses underneath it mainly has to do with the fact that the single shot is not the same shape as a double shot. there's just not enough volume to surface area to give optimal taste also due to that it's much harder to pull a good single shot so yes it is possible but it's harder due to it being less optimal

I save the single basket only for back flush! 😂😂

Why 63 grams in 33 seconds on the triple basket? I thought the goal was double the grams of coffee, so somewhere around 50 grams of espresso.

I use the single dose baskets for the occasional affogato. That's it, can't imagine any other use for them.
