As a 54 year old Burt Reynolds fan, it's my favourite movie of his. I actually watched it again on the day I heard of his passing, the final scene when he looks at the camera and gives the O.K sign with his gloved hand had me in tears. A brilliant movie from a legend of a man God bless you

I was a rookie Pittsburgh Steeler when this movie came out, and at the premiere of the movie in Pittsburgh in July 1978, Terry Bradshaw took me and another rookie with him to see it. He drove in an old standard pick-up truck, and when we got to the packed theater, the people waiting in line and the people already in the theater went nuts seeing Bradshaw! He had a fun part in it, and as a side note, Terry was a superstar, yes, but also a really nice guy. And his full salary for that 1978-1979 Super Bowl champion season was a whopping $400k… and he was the the SB XIII MVP. Now, a guy who has never thrown an NFL pass, signs a 5-year $250 million contract, with $50 million of it guaranteed. So ridiculous! Anyway, a fun film, and a fun memory.

Thanks for sharing! Hooper was my fav as a 12 yr old and led me to want to be a stunt man. However, given no clear career path that way it led to me doing increasingly dangerous stunts around the house! Many falls from roofs, into creeks, jumping cars on bicycles, and the one that hurt most, wrapping myself in freezer tape and being lit on fire (pro tip, even after you put out the fire, the tape glue still burns like a mofo!). But really we were going to probably try that stuff anyway. We were already saying 'Evel Knievel that!' before jumping ramps and stuff. This movie was just perfectly timed during that era! Thanks again for such an entertaining post and one that really took me back!

Me too... The biggest problem is that it is not available digitally. Can purchase it any way except for DVD/BluRay. And most people have given up on physical media. Turner Classics aired it recently, but other than that, you can’t even find it on any streaming services. If the film landed on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, perhaps it would find its audience. Another film with the same release issue is “The Cannonball Run”. Not as good a film but certainly a fun watch. Hard to find anywhere other than DVD. Ridiculous! Thanks for watching! Cheers! Gator

Les titres "Nothin' Like The Life (Of A Hollywood Stuntman)" et "A Player, A Pawn, A Hero, A King" sont intemporels...

Mr McKlusky, Your Hooper content is amazing to me. My favourite movie growing up and it still is... The deleted scenes and making of is cool to watch. I watched a wide screen version last week and for the first time ever I saw a joke that is cut off the TV version... Tony, played by Alfie Wise, is in the background of the scene where Sonny arrives to see the rocket car at the studio. Tony escorts a showgirl into the special effects warehouse and 30 seconds later the showgirl walks out of the warehouse. It's a blink and you miss it but the joke isn't visible on a full screen version of the movie.
