I have been working on this for several months, with not much progress. Then the other night there was a full moon - on Friday the 13th, no less - and I decided to go outside and hoop in the moon glow. That in itself was an awesome experience, but then I decided to try and "get it up" and voilá! I did it!!! I can't keep it up very long, but as my body gets used to what it is supposed to feel like, that will come. I was so pumped!!! There must've been a bit of magic in that moon.....

Yes thank you Deanne, really easy to understand, just need practice. I only watched your video for Total Beginners (nothing else read or watched before) and picked up the hoop for the first time and hour ago and got through about 3-4 songs in a row, thank you! Thought I was going to be struggling with getting just TWO rotations down as people seem to keep complaining about the learning curve when you start.

I remember being 3-4 years old in england, in my school there were many small hula hoops, and one big heavy one. No one dared to use the heavy one since we were all so small, but it was my favorite! Somehow i just knew how to hula hoop, and how to get it back up where it was going down. And also used to hoop for the whole break :) I want to do it again but i dont have any hoops... ;-;

thank you so much for these tips! ive been hooping for 1year now and still havent got the hoop to climb my torso! i tried the movements without my hoop and had so much popping and cracking im my chest and back. i obviously havent been using those areas at all! haha! i normally just got so frustrated that i would do a vortex to get the hoop to my chest or neck but it would always fall back down to my waist or the ground when i tried to put my arms up throught the hoop. i tried this and it worked almost immediately! do you have any tutorials for how to get your hoop from your legs up to your back? i love watching your videos and have been watching your tutorials since day 1 of my hooping journey and feel you have helped me develop my hoop skills! thank you so much for you videos!

Thank you for your videos, they are great! I am still really struggling with this though :( as soon as I put my arms inside the hoop I just can't get the hoop to move up. I am finding that my lower arms/wrists are getting really banged up and bruised and swollen. I just can't get it above my elbows at all. Is it possible that my hoop is too heavy? it's 36 inch and 160 psl. Thanks so much Deanne :)

Deanne Love, I was curious if you know or remember the hoop size you used here. As in the piping type (PE? HDPE? Polypro?). It looks like 3/4" outer diameter, if it is not please let me know. I'm also curious of the diameter of the hoop itself and if that would be inner or outer diameter. If you know or remember. I've heard bigger hoops make all the difference in learning to shoulder hooping. I cannot do it with my 3/4" OD polypro 36' hoop that I currently have. It's too small and or too light for this beginner for now. I purchased your shoulder hooping class but need a different hoop than what I have. Please advise.
