You should do a comparison between officiating in game 2 and game 3 of the Denver vs Minnisoda series. If you watched both games you will find game 2 a hack and slash simulator and NBA calling it best defense of the league with Wolves elbowing and hand checking. This threw Nuggets off balance and they collapsed embarrassingly. Now This hack and slash was shut down by Tony Brothers in game 3 and the Wolves were not allowed to play their normal physical game tonight which then threw the wolves off balance. And yes I am a nugget fan but after the Lakers series I just want to watch a fair and square series, funny how officiating is vastly different between the two games, and inevitably impacted the outcome.

I've said it for years. What ppl don't understand about leagues fixing games is that the league profits no matter who wins, but they have teams of ppl calculating how much more they'll profit if a specific team wins. Based on whichever outcome is most profitable, they have their refs favor a team just enough to increase the probability of that team winning. But they are fine no matter what the outcome is. The most important thing to remember is that the league belongs to them. They can fix games if they want to. The games are literally a product that they are selling. It isn't scripted like the WWE but it is only entertainment.
@milart127 ай бұрын
What data supports this silly idea?
@BruvahSulaiman7 ай бұрын
@@milart12 It's pretty obvious the games aren't fully scripted and it's obvious the team being favored doesn't always win. If you didn't know that corporations have financial analysts who make projections, then I don't know what to tell you. The most important thing to understand is that there's no law against a league telling its refs to go easy on one team as long as it isn't directly tied to gambling. The NBA can legally look at their projected revenue if team X wins the title and instruct their refs to do things that increase the odds of that outcome. They don't even have to tell the refs all the details. And we're talking about billions of dollars. If you think billionaires leave billions completely to chance then more power to you.
@milart127 ай бұрын
@@BruvahSulaiman You side stepped my question. If you don't know that corporations have financial analysts who make projections? What on earth do you mean by that? What evidence do you have that the league tells referees to "go easy" on a team. What evidence do you have that referees do, in fact, "go easy" on some teams? Be more specific. Does "the league" get together with the referees at the beginning of the year and tell them that they want Team X to win the title this year. Do they get together with the referees before each series? If "the league" doesn't even tell the referees the details, are you telling me that the referees simply infer what the league wants and acts accordingly? So, what is the plan this year? I'm dying to know. The last 5 NBA champs were the Nuggets, Warriors, Bucks, Lakers and Raptors. What sort of "financial analysis" went into these outcomes?
@BruvahSulaiman7 ай бұрын
@milart12 It's common knowledge that the league makes and changes its own rules. They review their own refs and tell them what to crack down on and when. Your request is nonsensical. When they told the public that they would crack down on non basketball moves to draw fouls, that was literally an example of them being transparent about the obvious fact that they tell the refs what to crack down on. Did you think that the refs operated independently and made the decision to crack down on that on their own? Do you not acknowledge the obvious fact that this specific crack down negatively affects a player like Steph Curry more than it affects a player like Giannis or AD? If you simply add the facts together, the picture is clear. 1. Entertainment is their product. Not fair competition. They have no legal obligation to emphasize fair competition over entertainment 2. They tell their refs what to focus on whenever they see fit to do so. 3. You can see if you watch the games that they aren't focused on the same things across the board in every game or series. 4. They pay ppl for the specific purpose of letting them know what will make them the most money. There is no reason to calculate potential ratings or earnings if you are just going to sit back and leave it all to chance.
@milart127 ай бұрын
@@BruvahSulaiman There is no question that the NBA periodically instructs the referees to call or not certain "types" of fouls. But that is for the good of the game and to make a more exciting product for the fans, not to favor one team over the other. Steph Curry is one of THE most popular players in the game. Are you saying that the league is instructing the referees to "crack down" on Curry, reducing the chances of the Warriors advancing in the playoffs, in order for the Milwaukee Bucks, playing in one of the smallest NBA markets, to advance to the finals.? You must realize how silly that is. Your final pronounces are laughably vague. There is no doubt that professional sports is entertainment. But the rest of your comments are the product of your fevered imagination. They tell the referees to focus on whatever they see fit. Yeah...and. Does this favor one team over the other? You can see by watching the games that they aren't focused on the same things across the board in every game or series. Ok-What are "they" focusing on in the Celtics v Cavs series? Mavericks v OKC? Nuggets v Timberwolves? Knicks v Pacers? They pay people for the specific purpose of letting them know what will make them the most money- What will make the NBA the most money and what, specifically, are they telling the refs. Here's what finally convinced me the playoffs are rigged: MN Vs Denver Game 3... the way the refs drastically changed the ref style mid-series, combined with no suspension for Murray... basically handed Denver a free game. And sadly, most fans don't know ball deeply enough to understand how HUGE of an impact the sudden ref style change would have on a matchup like that. I was able to predict a blowout win for Denver only 5 minutes in. For Denver fans, how did i know? The game was still close at that time.

You saw what their defense was like in G3 when they weren't allowed to slap, shove, and scratch the Nuggets on every possession. Denver fans are truly losing my respect this series, so far. You guys used to be respectful. But this series you're all coming across as delusional. I don't think I've seen a series in which the refs / league are favoring 1 side as much as this one. It's every key decision, from both the league and the refs, favoring Denver. Every one. And at the same time, its Denver fans whining about refs??? Idk man, I get that we all have a fav team and we are all biased, but it's fans acting like this that allows them to get away with rigging. There's just no possible way that you truly believe this is a fair series so far. Maybe you don't understand what the refs did in Game 3 go basically hand Denver a win. Playoff basketball has always been more physical. Always. So when they suddenly start calling soft fouls in game 3, without warning, that puts the Wolves in early foul trouble and forces them into lax D and open shots for Denver all game. The change in reffing was so drastic, and such perfect timing for Denver to extend the series, that anyone who truly understands basketball knows that was a deliberate planned move.

You guys focus on ONE no-call when KAT charged and act like that ONE call is representative of the entire game. I'm starting to suspect the commentators are in on it because they made such a big deal of that one call, but then said not a word about Jokic doing the exact same thing moments later. And not a word about it. They also didn't say a word about the fact the refs called KAT for ticky tack fouls all game after that one no-call. They called 10 fouls on KAT over the first 2 games, maybe 4 of which were actual fouls. And at the same time, they draw so much attention to that ONE no-call early on (which Jokic did the same) that they have you guys brainwashed into thinking the entire game was KAT playing football, when it was exact opposite - it was KAT being called for ticky tack fouls and being in foul trouble all game for the first two games. I think they know that most fans form opinions based on 1 or 2 plays like this, so they're purposefully taking advantage of it to brainwash you guys. You gotta be smarter and less biased.

Bro, go and officiate some basketball games and you will might get the answer. It is one of the toughest jobs in the world. Refs have to make about 700 decisions (including no calls) in a game. If they work with a 95% accuracy, which, I guess we can agree that is quite good, that is still 35 bad decisions. That seems a lot as a fan and feels a lot as a team. Or think about the other way around. You could pick a player who shoots the 3 well and then argue that he missed open shots on purpose to sell the game. Refs are human too...they make mistakes...some days fewer and some days more. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to say that there are no rigged games ever but...well, I hope you get my point. I'm a player, I'm a coach, I'm a trainer, I'm a ref too...yes, those are questionable calls in your video but come one...would you go after players who miss shots or layups or turn the ball over the same way? I don't know but I'm not seeing any of this kind of alligation against anyone else other than refs. On the other hand, most of the fans (and sadly players and coaches as well) don't have any idea of the rules and the application of them in certain situations. Again I'm not sayin officiating is perfect. It isn't. Sometimes it's really bad. But do players play really bad sometimes? Do coaches make really bad decisions sometimes?

I still remember last year when NBA Ref Eric Lewis got into a scandal because of a potential burner Twitter account, that at first it looked like potentially nothing, but then it blew up and was found out that he was possibly betting on games on the side because not only was this burner account Bucks bias, but any games that Eric Lewis ref'd for the Bucks, usually resulted in them winning with heavy foul calls in their favor. The NBA was going to start an investigation, and then Lewis announced his resignation and they dropped the whole investigation super quick. Rather than pursuing which could have busted open a wider issue, they just up and dropped the whole thing and left a lot of game fixing issues in the air that could have had multiple connections.

And yet the DPOY, Rudy Goober, consistently backed himself up DIRECTLY UNDER THE BASKET and didn't contest any shots for the whole game in every loss against the Mavs. When did he actually play? When the Mavs were favored in game 4! D'ya think 3 point Champion KAT can really be held to 12.5% shooting from 3 if he wasn't trying to miss? When did he make his shots?? WHEN THE MAVS WERE FAVORED GAME 4. There's BILLIONS to be made by fleecing bettors with this scripted BS. This last NFL season was ridiculous with the prop bet BS and the NBA is following suit. Its funny that you show DeAngelo Russell in this video because he and Taurean Prince are the ones who inspired my Point Spread Theory. DeAngelo caught my attention when he single handedly erased a 20 point lead inside of 5 minutes as a Timberwolf playing against the Wizards, I think. Flailing, losing the ball, passing to triple guarded teammates, rushed shots; every trick in the book. And when did he do it? To end a half, of course! Gotta manage that point spread, especially with ample time for more bettors to come in at the half. Prince caught my eye when the veteran had the ball with the Wolves leading and time expiring. Instead of just holding the ball and waiting to get fouled, the VETERAN dribbles to the middle of the court (giving the Lakers the entire floor to work with) and then passes the ball back toward the Lakers basket. The absolutely most perfect WRONG thing you could do! Too stupid for stupid. Lakers get the turnover, score a bucket and eventually win in OT. Scripted.

Marc Davis didn't give Malone a tech because he knew it was a charge on KAT and he's a veteran referee. He knew if he T'd up Malone for that he would be less likely to get more playoff games in the next rounds because the NBA reviews shit like that and won't give certain crews games as the playoffs go on (which is less bonus money for the refs). Davis knew he was wrong on the charge call and rightly kept his cool to keep his pockets up. If you want to argue anything about game 2 bad refs its gotta be the amount of physicality they let Minnesota get away with but called Denver for repeatedly. Mostly because once Davis was mad about Malone he kinda just went "hold my beer" and called Denver for everything and let Minnesota get away with a bit more. Once Tony Brothers (a notorious Jokic hater) was crew chief in game 3 and the game was called much more fairly (even tho there were a few super soft calls both ways) we saw what happened. But this is why fans get so mad the consistency between crews is lacking - ANT got the T in game one cause that crew wanted no nonsense, Malone didn't get the T in game two but the wolves got away with a lot of physicality after that, in game 3 I'd say it was mostly fairly called. We'll see how it goes but for the most part I'd say the refs really aren't THAT bad.

Minnesota and Dallas series is badly refereed, Luka gets fouled every second play and yet no calls, meanwhile SGA gets every ticky tacky call. Its weird

@@UlookinMeliterally. Refs called everything on the Thunder but Dallas could shove players on the ground and they’d either call it on the Thunder or no call

"It was the correct call ... but it was a horrible call." Well the fact that calling things correctly in "certain situations" is considered "horrible officiating" would seem to be a bigger issue than the officiating itself.

In second game Nuggets vs TWolfs referees were obviously on TWolfs side. Have you watched what happened before coach Melone and Jamal did what they did? That game was practically nfl game. Referees didn't issue technical for Nuggets because they went so far against them so they decided to let them go because that way they can say they are not biased. The game was unwatchable. Third game was the opposite, every single contact was interpreted as foul. NBA referees are impacting game acording to some agenda and that will destroy the game. I love basketball so I'll switch to europian league. I'm just hoping that NBA becomes 'healthier' in future.

Lmao when your player is throwing tantrums that would’ve gotten anyone else suspended, you don’t get to cry. The Denver Frauds crying is laughable. You already got the NBA to save your season, now you’re gonna cry about fouls? 🤣🤣 GTFOH frauds!
@posivibe9897 ай бұрын
If you truly want to see if foul/FT disparity is suspect, you have to go through each foul and questionable no -foul and evaluate that way, not raw numbers.
@REVIEWCORPS7 ай бұрын
You are essentially saying the nba SHOULD rig games by changing the way they call games based on them being regular season games or playoff games. If it’s a foul in game 1 of the preseason it’s a foul in the last game of the postseason. Period
@frederickdelius11067 ай бұрын
It really is the only way to make it right. Then the players have a chance to adjust their play and we can all move on. Even if your correcting a bad no call from before you have to call the same thing or else it just gets out of hand. Suvks they are just fucking over the actual fans watching the games. The ones sitting through commercials. Hopefully the lakers are practicing their free throws this off season. Lebum is staying.

Another reason would be a tremendous lack of access to these games, which are no longer aired on network TV.

It really hurts to see the downfall of not even just the NBA, but every other league in general. Ever since they’ve started shoving FanDuel and DraftKings into our faces, it’s been nothing but unfair officiating and it’s all about the paycheck and viewership. I love this league so much but the officiating and lack of accountability towards the officiating makes me never wanna watch another nba game again.

Game 1 of NYK vs IND was getting swayed by the officials WAAAY before the last minute of the game. IND was up at the start of the 4th, and they started getting calls against them. It was SO clear that the refs wanted the game to be closer. The calls slowed the game down and took out the momentum of IND. Lesson is that teams have to take the game away from the refs.

Seen this before. As a Bucks fan in the late ‘70’s and early ‘80’s the league decided they wanted Boston/Philly over small market Milwaukee. Over and over the Bucks got screwed in the playoffs!

I was a big NBA fan since the 90s, I got progressively tired of the NBA since the Kings-Lakers series in the early 2000s. Now with all the shameless "favoritism" calls, no-calls on obvious traveling, constant flopping and whining, touch-foul calls that discourage defense, I haven't watch a single game this season including playoff, only watch some full-game highlights occasionally. Overall, the current NBA is a bad product and not worth my time and money. I still hope they'll learn and make some corrections to improve the state of the NBA in the near future. hmm, don't even mention the all-star game which is a joke for the world to see.

Why can't we get rid of Refs entirely and use AI / cameras all around the court to verify whats a foul and whats not. That's literally the best use case for AI right now
@rogerhuggettjr.76757 ай бұрын
If the NBA wants to be taken seriously it has to be consistent in it's calling. Games 2 and 6 of Minnesota-Denver were so different because the T-Wolves could play tight D without touch fouls called. It was completely different when they got into early foul trouble due to an entirely different standard. Professional refs should maintain a consistent standard. If they can't they need to simplify the rules so they don't miss obvious calls while counting seconds in the paint on players away from the ball.

I can why a ref would call a kick ball because his step hit the floor at the same time the ball did. But Miles Turner had stop moving right before contact was made. DiVencenzo definitely set a moving screen.

The ONLY reason the pacers are in the eastern conference finals is because they shot damn near 70%. Have to to not get “the big market team” further. It will probably be worse with the Celtics. (25 free throws to 3 free throws in regulation).

Any time you point out these concerns you end up with NBA employees, which number in the tens of thousands, or die hard NBA fans, messaging and saying, "you're just upset that your team didn't win." What if I don't have a favorite team or player and just love the game for what it use to be?
