I think you really understate how important Lively is. It is no coincidence that Ant only played well in Game 3 after Lively went down and then yesterday to have the game that he had, I think the abscense of Lively is 80% the cause.
@ericmmelin5 ай бұрын
The reason why Lively would have made all the difference is that KAT would not have been able to get going in the paint in the earlier portions of the game. He was feeling it because he built confidence hitting shots he was being denied with lively in the lineup.
@delectableprovisions5 ай бұрын
Lively def made a difference but Rudy can't proud the paint Anderson may need to start in his place then so ant can do work in the paint
@SDesWriter5 ай бұрын
Don’t forget that it’s not lively in the paint that’s the difference it’s the combination of lively and Gafford. Because kid keeps them on short rotations they don’t get tired and are extremely active and rebounding and challenging shots, not to mention working the screen enroll or double teaming. Without him it not only hurts them due to his absence, but it makes Gafford play more minutes which makes it less effective and whether it’s Powell or Kleber his relief is not going to be remotely the same as good.
@barrosbarros2705 ай бұрын
@SDesWriter I agree with you 100%. I was not trying to discredit Gafford whatsoever. It's like you said, the combination of both of them is what's really elevated this Dallas defense. I just wanted to point out Lively's absence because Jason kind of just glosses over it (mentions it in passing) when it, to my eyes, seems to have afforded to Ant opportunities that weren't there before he went down. We will see tonight. If i'm correct, Lively will come back and we will see Ant have a difficult game offensively once again.
@SDesWriter5 ай бұрын
@@barrosbarros270 honestly I don’t care if he plays well or not. He hasn’t gotten over 29 against the Mavericks defense so I’m assuming he’s going to be in that vicinity. The big problem is making sure they cover towns and Reid so they aren’t getting a ton of open threes. If they don’t put up big numbers then Luca and Kyrie will literally score as much as all three of them combined. Minnesota can’t win unless one of Dallas’s guards doesn’t show up, or they’re too big men are putting up 20 to 30 points on three-point shots

Mailbag - Why is the general consensus that the mavericks championship window is short (this season) ? They have a bonafide Superstar in Luka! All core pieces are 25-28 with a veteran in Kyrie and a young growing center in Lively. I think they have a 5 year window where they are true championship contenders and have yet to hit their peak
@sindilacion5 ай бұрын
Kyrie is old. He can become a free agent after next year. A 5 year championship window is extremely optimistic. You’d be lucky if 2 of those players are in a mavs uniform 3 years from now excluding Luka.

Boston fans hate Kyrie, and I’m sure he will be extra motivated to beat this opponent more than any other. I respect the wolves trying to play team basketball and run sets I appreciate that brand of basketball as opposed to the 1v1 game dallas plays. However they need to let the ego go. And involve Luka in pick and roll he's a terrible defender get Rudy out of the paint when ant goes to the rim. Kat GET ON THE BLOCK PLEASE!!!!! Ant don't be so passive once you get inside. Blitz Luka kyrie early then come back to it only in certain situations. If Rudy is 1v1 on the perimeter soft double get back to your man. Anderson may need to start in place of Conley or Rudy. Defend without fouling just contest at the rim box out long shot Kong rebound. Wolves are a better team if they do this they win.
