The Hoover Constellation 862 in rose pink and white went into production in 1959, it was replaced by the grey and white constellation in 1962.

Nice pickup Roger , shame about the hose . That’s the issue I have with brasso and silvo when polishing kirbys way to runny at times .

Hi Roger, the diffuser was to hold the foam exhaust filter to help stop carbon being forced into the carpet. Hoover called it triple filters. The pink 862 and the grey 862 didn't have this. The first pale green constellation did have triple filters and changed to 867. Always triple filters from then on. Kind regards.. Andy. I have one pink, one grey and one pale green constellation plus a maytag late constellation if any on wants them. I no longer want to keep my collection due to bad health.

I was gutted to see one of these in the tip a week ago! If I though I wouldn’t get in trouble I’d of got it but for some odd reason they don’t let you.. It wouldn’t have been so bad but it was right in the area where everything else got lobbed on top of it…Sad day😅😅

If I were you, I would have cut up a Henry bag to make a new filter and replaced that grubby old felt material. It would be lovely to have nice HEPA filtration in an old machine like this.

Well I doubt they are because there is a filter after them and they don’t look like HEPA

@@kikio2067 Well you’d be wrong. Numatic bags are HEPA rated, made of the modern fleece style filter material. Just because they have a second HEPA pre-motor filter doesn’t mean the bags aren’t HEPA rated.

Hello, I have just found your channel and must let you know that I have two Hoover Constellations one pink and one green both in good condition and I still use them both today! Both of mine have the plastic defuser over the outlet vent with the foam filter too. I am looking out for a couple of replacement tools at the moment.

I had one of these in an orange/cream color. The base got bent up so it didn’t “float” very good anymore and the hose was split in two places. I ended up throwing it out.
