Hi Russ. In the late 70's I worked at Lake Mead Marina. The biggest boat then was Lady Hilton. Met Eva Gabor and Phyllis Diller working as part-time deck hand. The tour boats then were large and cruised about 15 to 20 mph and threw about a 4' wake. Used to surf the wake till they slowed for the canyon, and wait till they came back. The captains knew me, and would pass close enough for me to catch the wake back. Great fun for a young man. Now though, putting finishing touches on my 5th wheel and truck. Hope to see you in Quartzsite this year. Keep up the great work!

Russ another great video. I lived in Las Vegas in 2004 - 2005 and they were talking about how the lake level was dropping. They should have started planning a long time ago for drought. Sad to see the level. Stay safe .

Thanks I didn't have enough time 12 years ago when I was out there to take a boat ride now I wish I would have made the time. Back then the bridge was still under construction and you could still drive across the dam keep them videos coming.

What I can’t figure out is how the boaters know where the “new” hazards are- rocks that were once 100s of feet underwater are now just below the surface! It would help if the park service would take measures to put buoys over anything that could wreck a boat.

It's at its lowest level since it was filled. The lake is almost a dead pool. Meaning no more elec. generation. Then comes the lack of water for LV, AZ, PX and Tuc. I live in Tucson and it is barely on the news. The lakes are dying and there is no going back. And they are still building here. Crazy.

amazed to see the backside of the dam. been crossing that dam on road since the 70's. now it was trip to come west 2021 & highway bypasses the dam. now a exit ramp, one way in/out high security too. but to see from that boat your on was epic.. got to hit replay on this vid thanks so much Russ for the guided tour!!!! knocked it out the park again. safe travels........Russ. we'll keep watching!

The smallish explosion this morning at the Hoover Dam on Lake Mead was on the AZ side generation station at the base of the cliffs at the side of the dam and one transformer blew and started a small fire. Staff fire department put the fire out in about a half-hour. All guests were evacuated safely. No injuries among guests or workers, and officials say no problem with electrical generation. They have generators not working on each side, daily on a planned rotation. The officials say they are investigating the cause.

I wish I could go on that boat because it won’t be long before it will no longer be. It is quite the site but I’m very partial to the largest dam in the United States and in North America. That would be the Grand Coulee Dam in eastern Washington State on the The Mighty Columbia River.

I seen a news reel today from Salt Lake City. Seems the Great Salt Lake is drying up too. They said it's really bad for folks to breath in the dust that blows off the dried lake bed.
