You just got super lucky with how good of the condition this machine is in. This machine obviously wasn’t used all that much since it still has the red brush strips that are like brand new looking. I’m sure the grease in the fan side bearing has turned chunky. I opened up a brushroll bearing that was 23 years old and the grease had turned into chunks.

I love those old Hoovers! They were powerful carpet cleaners and built to last. My late grandmother had a brown & white model from the 80s that she eventually gave to us. I can't remember the model number, but it was a great machine. We also had a Decade 80 that was decent, too.

I have put the newer brushroll into two older Hoover uprights that I have. I think a mid 60s Purple Model 33 (might be wrong not looking at the machine) and a Decade 800. Posted a video clip of them running on a Facebook group and it was pointed out to me that they seemed to be running sluggish as the one that pointed it out that he did the same and the double brush rows bogs down older less powerful machines. I think I might rebuild the brush rolls and need to get an endcap or two off Ebay.

WOW! What a find! These are more familiar for me in Hoover Senior (UK) form, but apart from different hood they are the same vac. Although this has more plastic in the base, but it doesn't matter. Another +100 cfm upright😎

I always used to confuse these with Eureka/Sanitaire F&G machines. They are very similar though. Can’t wait to see more content on this!

The last of the Convertibles, and that one's essentially a newer version of your U4007 (and you're right, about it being dated June 1990. First 4 numbers of a Hoover serial Date at least between the years of 1988 and 2010, the first 2 digits decode the month, and 3rd & 4th decode the year). I can't wait for the upcoming videos on this when they happen, cause even though this is .7 more amps than the U4007 (that one being 4.3 amps without the tools), it does use a 6 blade plastic fan, over the U4007's 12 blade metal fan, so the performance difference will be interesting to see.

My U4007 is 420W (3.5A), no tools and the U4595 is 600W (5A).

We both got Hoover scores this week! I got a Hoover Concept One with ALL the bells and whistles for $120 (less than a third of the usual resale value) just because it needed a transmission rebuild. Nice vacuum! I hope it treats you well.

This I would say was a low mileage machine. I'm guessing maybe someone bought in when in their 60s, didn't use it much, then died. I would keep the brush as is, since it's original to the machine. Imo, the vinyl bag on the gold one, makes it look dated. She may like it more if it had a more modern cloth outer bag on it, though I really like both machines myself

Yes ordered a cwp that had four rows of bristles instead of beater bars.m for my decade 80. The factory Hoover replacement roller made the machine vibrate and rattle like crazy even though it was brand new. I out the cwp roller in and the machine runs silky smooth and oh so quiet. And honestly it cleans and grooms the carpet much better and moves the pet hair faster than the roller with neater bars. Highly recommend the cwp replacement roller over the factory one.

Only for a short time. Much prefer a lightweight grease.

Why does my hoover snap belts,can't seem to find the issue.the belt is not too tight and they are hoover belts
