Once again thanks very much Sam for repairing it for me. She's been running fine since (touch wood). Like you say it was probably just shoddy production what caused it. Would have been made at the Cambuslang factory in Scotland as only white goods were produced at Merthyr Tydfil I think.

I guess even hoover had 3pm Friday ten mins before shift end shoddy production too. Especially so late in their years. I too own the same machine.just got it. Sadly it needs full restoration as it's bloody filthy!

Wow how cool is that?! I wonder where your viewer got it from? I have a UB088 that's also from 1996 in the collection. Got the feeling they may have been a mail order model but could be wrong
