I made a mental note that my red wire (ON position) was at the top before dismantling, but now I'm having doubts after watching your video. I tried putting the red on lateral and medial position and black on the opposite terminal and with both setups the vacuum comes on. Should the red definitely be on the lateral or OFF position? I noticed a flash of light occurs in the new rocker switch on both setups when turning off. Is this normal? Thank you for the detailed video.

hard to give advice without seeing it. the way a switch works, it doesn't really matter which wire goes on which terminal. the switch just "breaks" the current.

our Model UH70805 terminal cords (red and black) will NOT unplug! Pulling, back and forth etc...and neither will remove from the two prongs/plug. What our we doing wrong!? UPDATE: We had to remove the plastic sheaths first, then push on the tiny tab on the silver connectors to loosen the connectors from the plug prongs. Others may encounter the same issue. Model UH70805.

My son moved into his own place and needed a sweeper. A nice lady from church said she had one that she'd give me if I could figure out why it wouldn't turn on. She had already bought a new one, so she was just going to throw this one away. So....I took it home and bypassed the switch and it fired up! the new switch cost $6 on Amazon. SCORE! I bet this sweeper lasts him a long time..... I know this because it was like pulling teeth to get him to sweep when he lived at home!

Have you had a case where the fuse went bad? Or is it that the switch is mostly likely prone to fail?

Can we fix our Hoover vacuum following your tutorial --- if our vacuum has the cord coming out of the back as part of the back assembly? We bought a replacement switch, but are realizing now that your tutorial shows the power cord on the SIDE, not on the back like ours. : ((

Yes same basic concept. If your not sure, locate the identification plate that has your model & serial # on it. Go to Google, type Hoover, then what ever the model # is, then type part diagram and it should come up with schematics and some sites let u buy parts directly through them. But honestly it really doesn't matter where the cord is located, you just need to remove a panel that the switch is in

Most likely. however, the switch model might be different. All these switches are basically the same simple design (for on and off switches)

Which one is the collateral and which is the the medial?, they look the same to me.

The lateral is the one closest to the edge. the Medial is in the middle.

That helps me now about the 2 wires from the cord came out white and black . White is just dangling where does it go hoover wind tunnel UH72601 4G12.0 series please help

All I know is what I've shown you here. However, a switch is pretty easy to install, it's only two wires.

It is crash how fast our power switch broke. We had probably flipped it maybe 50-100 times max. My brother saw a spark in the switch before it completely broke. Must be like thousands of those defective switches out there based on how many Amazon reviews they have! And Hoover didn't recall it afaik. Somebody had a bad day at the factory or engineering firm 😂
