Compared to other developed nations, the United States tends to reward highly skilled workers and punish lower skilled workers, highlighting just how impactful a high-quality education can be in providing higher wages, increased opportunity, and better quality of life. The education losses caused by COVID-related lockdowns and policies compound this issue and makes it all the more necessary to make up for these learning losses.

Last minimum wage job I had, I was tasked with cashiering, stocking, cleaning, and running the whole store single handedly. The senior staff member didn't do anything like that. They were entirely unskilled. All they did was clean. This large multinational company has decided to do the exact opposite than what you'd expect. To grant seniority for less skills. They don't have a pay scale, so what they do is assign less work to senior staff members to establish a hierarchy!! It's survival of the stupidest at this company. If you want skilled workers, you actually have to respect skill enough to pay for it. At this point employers only respect leverage - either exercised by a union or government regulation. It's unprotected workers that are punished in the USA. Skill is an independent parameter, though education might be closer to what the speaker is talking about. Is confusing skill with education part of the respect and discrimination issue? It sure is. Stop doing it.

Well said, Professor. IMHO, we, the people, need to do away with “woke” principles and focus on bettering ourselves.

Compared with developing countries, the US does well by unskilled workers. Which is why there are so many gardeners and cleaning ladies coming from Mexico and elsewhere.
