Dear Mr Hoovie: I have 2 Fords from the 30's. One is bone stock, the other is tastefully modified. Having the overdrive makes an enormous difference even with in-town driving. Mine has an old (somewhat period correct?) Mitchell overdrive which has been simply great. YMMV, but for driving, I think that's a top mod. Along with radial tires if you haven't already.

Taylor Ray has a dry sump in his LS Miata, and has had virtually no issues with it, I think if he can keep it going sideways, and still manage to keep oil pumping through the engine, and keep the bearings happy, it would be a good option. Another option is AccuSump, which from my understanding, basically feeds in oil as the pressure begins to drop. From how it's been explained, the LS motors pump the oil up, and then gravity pushes it down through the engine, which means that the main bearings are further down the supply chain I guess, and rely on full oil pressure. Good luck for sure!!
