Hope Solo's Story - "One Nation. One Team. 23 Stories."

From an early age, Hope Solo wanted to be a professional soccer player. She just didn’t think it would be in goal. A highly-decorated scorer as a forward in high school in Richland, Wash., she didn’t come to terms with being a goalkeeper until her later years in college. With the support of her coaches at the University of Washington, she was told she could be the best in the world. They were right. Since then, she had been dedicated to her craft, and while she says that no one can perfect the art of goalkeeping, she loves that challenge it brings, and that’s what continues to motivate her.

You should evaluate yourself. If you don't feel confident in the goal or if you are unstable (that is if you often make silly mistakes along with great matches) then don't become a goalkeeper, be a striker. There are some examples of talented, but unstable professional goalkeepers who eventually end up as benchwarmers. Goalkeeping needs stability first of all.

Dont see why everyone has to criticize her behavior off the pitch. Some of the BEST goalies in world history have always had a loose screw. I can personally judge in the mirror because I don't beat up my nephew or get crazy drunk and then start driving. She makes terrible decisions and deserves to be punished. If the mom really cared about her child, she should have gone no matter what. Hope still got suspended even when they didn't show up. Let's hear two sides of the story.

Its incredible how little you know about this case. She wasn't suspended for 30 days because of domestic abuse she was suspended for drinking while driving. The fact that she wasn't banned from playing on the national team shows how corrupt FIFA really is. Get my story straight? Maybe you should learn the story first. Is Solo the best goalkeeper ever? During Solo’s time as US goalkeeper the team was the best in the world. Teams didn’t get many shots on goal. So Hope didn’t have to do much defending. She was good but she owed her success to the strong defense in front of her.
