Today, we're going to take a ride along the Hope Valley Line with East Midlands Railway! Now, I may have been happy to get a Turbostar, but the service was very busy, even with 3 carriages.
Despite this, we'll have a ride along the line, and have a look at what this Turbostar has to offer! Come with me for a ride along Hope Valley!

I Travel on this line regularly sometimes you are better off at busy times taking the slower northern trains to Manchester. Only takes about 20 minutes longer but is usually a lot quieter.

At this rate, it looks like the Northern services to Manchester Piccadilly are a better option with the overcrowding.

This service definitely needs to be more than a single 170 unit. Overcrowding was the reason why they started using pairs of 158s west of Sheffield a few years ago

Yeah at least two Turbostar units coupled together I think.

Great video on the turbo star for the class 170 I believe those 170use to run for West Midlands until it got replace by the class 196

Thanks, I believe this unit came from Greater Anglia and later transferred to EMR.

Good video again! EMR services between Norwich/Nottingham to Manchester/Liverpool are always busy trains. They really need a couple of 222's on these services instead of Turbostars. Hope Valley line is a very scenic line, just a shame you didn't have a window seat. 👍🙂

Thanks, Ian. It explains it with the train going through some really busy cities not allowing the trains to get quiet for most of the journey. It was annoying as well because I was just about to get a window seat but someone else beat me to it...
