Nice video Reece. Quite a few of my journeys start at Newcraighall as it's a convenient way of getting into Edinburgh. There is nothing to see at Tweedbank. If you'd had more time it's a nice walk back to Galashiels and there's much more to see there.

Great video Reece. My wife and I took a LNER first class from Edinburgh to Dundee in January and that same menu was in operation. We picked the chicken casserole, which was lovely. We travelled from EDB to NCL a couple of months ago too, also on LNER first class, but the menu has now changed, although once again it was delicious. Regards from Whitley Bay

Great video Reece 👍 Probably one of the most controversial line closures in the 1960s, as it resulted in several large towns losing their rail services. There were numerous protests along the line on the last day of passenger operation (January 1969), which included a hoax bomb threat, level crossing gates being padlocked shut and sit down protests on the track

Thanks! Oh wow, that's pretty shocking with the protests. Thanks for sharing that.

Great video again Reece! Borders railway was originally the mainline Waverley Route between Carlisle and Edinburgh via the border country. Whole line was controversially closed in the 1960's, one of the biggest railway closures of that decade. Partially rebuilt and reopened to Tweedbank in 2015. The hope is that the rest of the line to Carlisle can be reopened at some future time. 🙂👍

I would like to see more of these tours. I enjoyed it. I like how you spoke quietly. Very respectful for the other guests here during night. Now onto the hotel itself, I will admit for the cost this may or may not be worth it. There are plenty of aspects about this property that I definitely wouldn’t want for that price. Things that are minor like the open air closet, the keycard for power which aren’t in hotels here in America, but aside from those few things very nice property

I like staying at Premier Inns. I've stayed at many of them. The sad thing is that most of the Premier Inns that join on to a Brewers Fayre or Beefeaters have had no restaurants, but the ones with Thyme are still going. I've stayed in Best Western and an Ibis Hotel in Edinburgh back in May 2015. I like the way the lights come on with the key card as it's a good way of saving the environment & money too. Thanks for the review, Reece.

£400 for two nights in a Premier Inn? Blimey, they've changed their business model over the years! They used to be, with Travelodge, giants in the economic/living w cost hotel market (I regularly paid £35-£70 a night) but those are 4 star hotel prices if you were in locations other than ones like Edinburgh and London... and Edinburgh Park's not even in the city. Glad you had a good time though Reece and your Scots Rail adventures were fun to watch.

Nice to see what a Premier Inn has to offer. One thing I respectfully admire about you Reece is the fact that you don't seem to have a problem doing things on your own. Whereas speaking for myself, I find most things difficult on my own. Anyway, won't dwell on that, but nice video.🙂👍

@@ianr I fully get that Ian. Try starting small - a trip to a nearby town for the afternoon, then maybe a longer away day farther afield and eventually a night away. Anxiety and travel go together because you're not in control, but once you understand the system and see it works, it isn't half so bad and gradually becomes great fun. Good luck anyway!

I was diagnosed when i was about 8. I had to do several assessments. I went to primary, which was a mainstream school where nobody knew much about autism then. I often got bullied at school. I was dragged along a playground by two pupils who I still remember today. I hate bullies. I didn't like learning in class as people were teasing me. I used to take medication for my autism as it helped me concentrate. It was called Ritalin and then one called Conserta XL, which made me feel quiet. I found it hard to do mainstream exams, so I had to sit in the classroom alone. I did get some qualifications at school.

I use a traffic light system to cope with my strees and anxieties. I have had yellow and red moments at times. I can go from yellow to red quite quickly if the situation escalates and the thing that makes me get yellow gets worse. I have been known to throw objects in the past if im angry. I always feel remorseful afterwards if I have have done something wrong in someone else's mind

Well done Reece for putting this video out there and talking about your autism. I'm lot older than you, and I have had a number of mental health issues all my life from being a small child. I will not detail all my problems, but I was diagnosed as autistic as a child and amongst other issues I suffer with extreme anxiety. Major problem I had was the fact that my parents and family gave me no support whatsoever and disowned me. Also, in that era there was no support at school and I was just treated as what they then termed a " backward child. " One good thing is that as we get older it becomes easier to manage, but I still have a lot of issues. Well, I probably said too much, so apologies for the long comment! But well done! 🙂👍

So there you go. In the early 2000s the tax payer funds a multi billion pound upgrade of the WCML to allow tilting trains to run at 125, then 20 years later a failing private train operator introduces conventional trains to the route and speeds fall back again to those achieved over 20 years ago and that’s progress. Now the dogma and ideology has hit the buffers and we are in the verge of having a national train network again this ridiculous nonsense will end - surely Avanti are so in breach of contract they can be one of the first to lose their contract
@ReecesTrains

Yeah it is unfortunate why trains have be capped at 110mph just because they weren't built to tilt. I'd much prefer a TILTING Evero rather than a conventional train that has to slow down.
