@@alyb731 As an Asian, I have to say that you're correct. A lot of people did hurt animals and act like they "rescued" them for fame and money. Those actions disgusted me, too. But I was saying that it's because those people are ill-mannered and cold-hearted, not because of HPP's success. @1986 seems like they are blaming HPP for those poor animals' fates in those fake "rescue" videos. Sorry if there was any misunderstanding.

@@naomiarram5187 They can't be sued. It was a rescue, and they do that to all the Animals they find. Animal overpopulation is a problem. The owner should have done it earlier in her Dog's life.

@@tiffanyjenkins1756 it's America, land o' lawsuits. Every time Eldad goes onto someone's property, or shows a license plate number, I cringe for him. Rescue-shmescue - if the owner wanted to sue, she'd find a way. Americans are so used to lawsuit insanity, they don't even realize how insane it is.
@wwaxwork
@wwaxwork 3 жыл бұрын
@@naomiarram5187 Nah, that's not rescue laws work in the US. If the dog is not wearing a license, microchip or tattoo it is considered abandoned in many states and ownership of the dog goes to the rescue or shelter if the shelter has made a reasonable attempt to find the owner after a prescribed period of time it can be as little as 2 days to as long as a week. They have witnesses that the dog was a stray for, what did Eldad say, 3 weeks. The owner would have a very poor case. Also even before that time of ownership, the rescue is considered to be in possession of the animal & could do what is required for the health & safety of the animal, such as grooming. Also California has strict Spay & Neuter laws & dog owners can be legally forced to spay or neuter their pets. Eldad was simply complying with state law by neutering. Sure the owners could try to sue, they would lose.

I’m so happy that they didn’t just rescue him, but they got him neutered too. Now the owner and all of us can feel relieved that he won’t be running away again and that the stray dog numbers can be reduced.‘spaying and neutering is so important because it can reduce the amount of animals that go into shelters and are put down. Also it can cause them to even be healthier as well. 😊😄

Please don’t go on about responsible. Anything can happen. I lost my dog for two weeks after he slipped out past me and chases a deer into the woods. I was out every day looking for him, calling for him, going door to door handing out lost dog posters, posting them up, calling vets, let the local fire department know, pet smart and petco, was at the humane society every other day, even posted lost dog posts up on facebooks, neighborhood, nextdoor. So things, sadly happen, but I was reunited with him. ‘People should be responsible for their pets…’ have some heart for those who loose their pets and search tirelessly for them.

@@HayleysComet3 The dog was missing for 3 weeks, of course his fur got matted... and he probably had fleas too, come on. No dog is going to be in super good shape after 3 weeks of living on the streets, especially a long-haired breed. And neutering is not all sunshine and rainbows either, especially for males. In females it's a slightly different story, but with males, neutering can carry more risks than benefits (including increased risk of certain malignant cancers). Because of this, the decision should be left up to the owner. Deciding not to neuter your dog does not make you a bad owner, especially if it's a conscious and informed decision.

He'll be a little lethargic for at least a day, plus he'll have the cone of shame on. Please leave it on for as long as the vet says; otherwise, he may lick and/or open up his stitches - then it's back to the vet again for repair. You also may have to keep him either crated or separated for a few days just to be safe. Good luck!

Exactly. Every pet, save our new puppy, that I've ever owned, has been fixed. There's soooo many benefits to it. I remember when I was a kid and our cat wasn't fixed. She had six litters of kittens. Four she gave birth to at home, two she found a place to hole up. We presume. As one of the two she showed up several weeks later with a litter of kittens. The last litter, she never returned at all

@@quincybriley4113 yes there are organizations for poor people. But it's nothing I would rely on. It's just not right. It's also hard to get an appointment and I doubt they make expensive things that might have not the highest chance for the pet to survive. If you don't have time or money for a pet don't get one. Volunteer in a shelter. Be a dog walker to fulfil your need of having a pet. They often are looking for persons who are spending time with the animals there. Be a foster home. Do something good. But simply don't rely on organisations. With homeless people it's a different story.

I do dog rescue and I thought this little guy looked pretty good for being on the road for 3 weeks. His coat was dirty but all in all pretty good. I assume they shaved him because of matting. But, as I said, he looked pretty good for being in the dirt for 3 weeks so I see that as an indication that he was in decent shape, coat wise, prior to escaping. Many dogs escape from caring owners. So, let's stop with the owner bashing here.

I agree -- and in Los Angeles, it's illegal to have an unneutered pet unless you're a breeder (blech) so there was no excuse that this dog is not neutered. There are plenty of low-cost places to have it done and plenty of financial help if needed. No excuse.
@TheRivrPrncess
@TheRivrPrncess 3 жыл бұрын
@@Dan5819 Not all financial help is good though. In the county I live in the pet is taken to a vet the owner does not even know to get spayed/neutered. Some owners might not feel comfortable with that. But still if that is the case with any owner, the responsible thing to do is keep the pet inside or in a secure area outside away from other dogs/cats in heat.

@@marinasiebkes4002 The fur of that type of dog can actually mat very quickly. I have a dog that looks like him. When her fur is that long, she needs to be brushed every day. Without the brushing, her fur will mat in a couple of days. Some dogs in that breed group have a fur type that is inclined to felt without constant grooming. Even more likely if the little dog happens to be a Havanese (rather than one the other breeds in that group: Maltese, Bichon Frise, etc). The Havanese can have such a strong natural tendency towards matting that it isn't uncommon for people to cord their fur. In other words, it is entirely possible he was kept nicely brushed by his owner at home. Depending on his fur type, he could have easily matted without grooming in only three weeks while lost. My dog would have been horribly matted in a third of that time.
@changedforgood5761
@changedforgood5761 3 жыл бұрын
@@CeruleanStar I have to brush my Havanese daily or she will have mats. Rain, sweaters, rolling on the carpet, rolling in the grass these can all cause mats. If my Havanese was out on her own for 3 weeks she would look raggedy, she would probably have bald spots from pulling her hair out trying to get rid of the fleas. One flea drives her crazy, I could not imagine a bunch of them on her. She is 13 years old, great dog but the maintenance is high for a Havanese - it's kinda theraputic to brush her hair. When we are done with her brushing she runs around like a puppy, she is so happy to have her hair brushed.

Agreed, also don't own an animal if your are not willing or able to spay or neuter. I have rescued four dogs over the years, all were previously neglected and or abused. There are simply too many dogs that need homes, The U.S. euthanizes over three million dogs annually, of which eighty percent are healthy. The need for spay/neuter is self evident in this video.
@treasuretrovel3816

He was missing for 3 weeks so be fair. His coat was not that long and matted so the three weeks on the road is the main reason for him being disheveled. Be fair. The owner may have been intending to neuter him but had not yet done it. Neutering dogs early causes all kinds of health problems. Dogs can escape and they can escape before being neutered. He had an ID tag and/or microchip which indicates that this owner is not completely negligent. So maybe stop bashing the owner.
@LA_WOMAN967
@LA_WOMAN967 3 жыл бұрын
@@treasuretrovel3816 To be “fair” I went back and watched the video again. I grant you being lost for 3 weeks would explain the dirt and grime but if you look at the dogs face and head , it shows he hasn’t been groomed in a long , long time. Over the past 50 yrs. I’ve had Poodles, Bichons, and Shih Tzus . Those breeds mat very quickly without weekly brushing. This dog has been neglected for quite sometime. If you notice he had to be shaved down to the skin because of matting. I stand by my original statement.
@skinnerhound2660
@skinnerhound2660 3 жыл бұрын
@@treasuretrovel3816 Quite the contrary. According to the ASPCA: "While the traditional age for neutering is six to nine months, puppies as young as eight weeks old can be neutered as long as they are healthy. Dogs can be neutered as adults as well, although there's a slightly higher risk of post operative complications in older dogs, dogs that are overweight, or dogs that have health problems." My rescue dogs were strays that were running the streets and had the good fortune of being rescued and then spay or neutered. Dogs rely on humans for shelter, proper nutrition, medical care, love and protection. It is disgraceful that millions of otherwise healthy dogs AND cats are euthanized annually because people don't spay or neuter, thus overpopulation. The dog in this video was looking for a female dog that was in heat, something to ponder....
