Magic was lucky that Hope For Paws got the call to come and save her. JoAnn Wiltz and Katie McKittrick secured her, got her to the hospital, and slowly she started coming out of her shell. Our friends at The Little Red Dog fostered her, and just found her a loving forever home!!!

My mom and I discussed who would take Baxter, a Pekingese. She took him in as a rescue and it was his fourth home. It was agreed that I took him. She passed in 2008. He lived with us and our dogs and cat until he passed away in my arms in 2019 at the age of 16. He had a wonderful life with my Mom and then us! She changed her Will for him! 💕

People say "it's OK" to many scared animals during rescue. Does the animal really understand that? I don't think they speak English. It's a way of coping and trying to keep everyone as calm as possible in what is sometimes a difficult situation. We've seen many rescue situation where the animal is perfectly willing to go with the person, making it easy.

If a human child have been left behind after his/her caregiver's death, anyone doing that would have been charged and prosecuted. Their friends/family would make known their displeasure. It should be the same for anyone who leaves a pet behind in/outside the home after the owner dies.

@cyndy loguercio Our beagle was adopted by us from the SPCA after her bad basement "breeder" was hit by a bus. Thank goodness for that bus! We got her at age 6-7, weighing only 9 lbs at intake. She passed away 2 days ago aged 20-21. We'll love her forever!

This was an easy rescue. Who had been feeding the dog for 11 months? It took all that time to figure out what to do? I've donated to Hope For Paws twice even though I live on the East Coast, probably 3000 miles away. I like their channel and what they do. I wish we had a service like this where I live.

The neighbors were probably feeding her. A lot of areas, which I am sure theirs included, have high kill rates at local shelters, which makes people hesitant to call animal control. It used to be that way where I live, but thankfully they only euthanize if the animal is sick or extremely dangerous. Rescues tend to be full as well, and sometimes it takes a lot of research and calls to find a rescue that can take in an animal, especially one that may be aggressive.
