I was a sophomore in High school in 2006...Juturna immediately consumed my life when I first gave it a listen on my iPod because a friend told me to download their music. I never forgot the feeling I felt when those strings and sounds went straight into my ears. I knew I discovered something significant that would shape my life into something better. It sounds corny but the power of music is a real thing. 2007 came and on letting go came out and once again they made another masterpiece of an album. I spent the whole summer with my friends drinking and blasting that album all summer. Those times were so innocent and hopeful. Circa Survive holds dear in my heart and I'll never turn my back on them.

I think he means instances like when he sings "this ghost has been with you all along" in the first verse or when he sings "has grown and lost its feel long ago" before the second chorus or the parts in the bridge at 3:40 since he's hitting the high notes but not with full force like the outro verse of the song. Those parts are definitely all falsetto, but I totally agree with you - he's definitely one of the best and most genuine singers of our age!

Seriously, I don't think Anthony nor Circa Survive quite comprehend or understand how much they mean to some of us, alongside the issues and addictions their music has helped us through. I have met the band, as well have been able to speak with Anthony the past 4-5 times they have come to Vegas and he's one of the coolest, most down to earth dude I have ever met, which leads me to believe that's why this band is so easy to relate to. They dont care about the money (hell, if they were able to play shows for free, I bet you they would), but rather, they care more about their fans and the music we create more than anything else. I'm still very thankful to this day, that Circa Survive has never sold out, but rather, they have chosen the path that makes them truely happy. The day Circa Survive splits up is the day everyone of their fans will be effected, and I hope that doesn't happen for a very very long time. Also, if you have the chance, search for them playing "Sharp Practice" in a tattoo shop, Anthony ends up serenading a cat throughout the first half of it.

Idk why people have been shitting on circa since descensus came out because that album was really unique. Honestly, I've gone back and listened to their older shit since then and descensus is such an evolution of what this band is capable of. AG is in a better place and that album is such an emotional response of his struggles. I, for one, love how they've progressed as many bands tend to sell out.
@TheAlibabatree7 жыл бұрын
Nick Rhoades I think Descensus is their best album musically. I dont think most people gave it much of a chance, its much more dense and complex than any of their previous albums.
@neckrods92497 жыл бұрын
TheAlibabatree For sure dude I agree. Plus, I think it's a more "required" taste (no condescension intended) because it's their most proggy album. Plus the album has one of the best covers of all time, I think, given the meaning and emotional discharge let off by AG. The amulet (both song and album) has sounded like a good mix of all of their albums so I have high hopes they will pick up where they left off with descensus.

This is slowly becoming my favorite album since Juturna. Juturna was a masterpiece, and they've been getting progressively better after Blue Sky Noise, but I think this album is a huge step forward. Fantastic!! The element of juxtaposition is always what has made Circa Survive special to me, Juturna was the pinnacle of that, On Letting Go still had it but started to walk away from it, and after that they've just been a great progressive/alt rock band with post-hardcore/emo influences, but this ... this album is starting to feel like they're really getting into a sweet zone and really developing along with breaking some new ground. Absolutely love it. Ignore the haters Circa Survive, you're definitely on the right path. Brilliant album so far!

This song is like when you return to a place from your childhood. No matter how much you want it to be like it was it just isn't anymore.

Nobody cares , but here I am telling a story that changed my life. In 2007 My dad took me and my two best friends to see The Fall of Troy @ Soma in San Diego. I had always “and still do” collect CD’s today..Call it a hobby or whatever but I owned about 65 physical copies of my favorite bands. This was in like 2008. Three Evils and Doppelgänger were my favorite at the time . My Dad’s car had a CD player In it and me and my friends brought our cds. Dad was a good sport , sitting through Chiodos trying not to drive the car off of the cliff, and basically played DJ the whole drive. My friend leans over and asks to trade Doppelgänger for Juturna. I’d never heard of Circa Survive believe it or not. I traded my favorite CD for a random ass Juturna. I’m sitting in my house at 30 years old now… Circa Survive is playing at the moment. I love this band because they hold a place in me and my friends heads for the remainder of existence.

Listening to this song in my headphones while watching the waves crash against the shore is the most magical thing I've ever experienced.
