I had a dream last night and all the original members of hopesfall were in it. I was trying to track down all the members for interviews. One member left the band, gained a bunch of weight and became a hermit, living off the land deep in a forest. I found him first, listened to what he had to say and after my dream jumps to a bar where all the members are gathered. They buy me a drink, I feel obligated to buy them drinks too. The prices were ridiculous and my dream ended on me haggling with bartender. It's funny how I haven't even thought about this band in years and they suddenly appear in a dream. So here I am with an urge to hear this record again 17-18 years later.

Poison the Well and .hopesfall. were absolutely crushing the hardcore genre. I think HF is better but PTW got more out there and has some amazing shit. It's a shame A Types was so soft. While I love PTW nothing can top the masterpiece of The End of an Era in my opinion. Also very fond of Dana Walker and The Bending

I watched Hopesfall play through this EP at Cornerstone back when it was "new" and not many people had listened to it live. I swear there were people crying at the end when they played The End of an Era. Not because the song is sad or anything, but because the sound was perfect and was so emotionally moving. It was one of the few shows I've seen where the sound just moves through you, everything's a blur, and you stand there swaying and slack-jawed. I walked back to my tent in a daze and contemplated my life as I fell asleep. lol.

Hopesfall had such an impact on me when I started college around the time No Wings To Speak Of came out.. That was some of the most "progressive melodic metalcore" at the time along with SkyCameFalling's 10.21; Poison The Wells' Opposite of December, and Misery Signal's Malice and the Magnum Heart... Truly great times and without bands like them there would be no Erra or Monuments

These guys came to my college back in I wanna say 2003. It was their tour with Punchline, Count the Stars, and The Juliana Theory. Count the Stars wasn't there because their van got into an accident. Anyway, it was a super sick show. There weren't many people there (I went to a small school) and my friend and I were the only people who actually knew who Hopesfall were. They hung around after the show and partied at one of the fraternity houses. I remember the guitarist passed out on my friends couch with a full drink in his hand. I remember one of the girls who was with the Juliana Theory said the lead singer of A Static Lullaby was an asshole. True story, Ahhh the good old days.

There is literally no other album/EP like this. Poison the Well and Hopesfall defined this genre and made leaps into territories no one else had the guts to do. Overall, when it comes to the best representation of "Melodic Hardcore", there is nothing that comes close to this.

NWTSO was probably the first time I ever heard dropped-guitar play Lydian-mode scaling. Early Hopesfall still means a lot to me. The later stuff is fine, but not the same band. I never got to play in a band like that. I kind of always assumed that I would eventually.

I saw these dudes in Louisville, Doug was sick and so the vocals suffered but they were so loud/ different from all the other mosh bands on the bill. Everyone hated them but I bought the cd, they came back later that fall and the same people were "all about them" at that show. "End of an Era" kinda had a new meaning to it once they changed singers. Not that the new dude was bad, just there was a really big shift in hXc music around that time. I remember Coheed Cambria, Ludikriss (Norma Jean), hopesfall were supposed to play Aslans How and there was a line 2 blocks long. Only like 50 people got in and my friends told me that Hopesfall had changed singers. I was super bummed by not getting in but also by the news. This was early 2003 I believe. Good times.

I got to see them play with Atreyu in the early 2000s. They opened. They only played Open Hands, April, and the end of an era. I didn't know what to do with myself. No one in the crowd knew who they were and when they said this will be our last song no one really made noise and I screamed "the end of an era!!!" And someone in the band seemed upset I screamed it out but he said 'at least this guy gets us" and I was super embarrassed but joyed at the same time. Then I saw the perform for Satellite years with with Jay. Got them to autograph the CD. Made my world. They seemed really happy to have such a hardcore fan. The whole drama of their career sucks. Doug leaving sucked. Forrest can sing but I hear he's why they got so soft and shit. Somehow I still haven't listened to the Arbiter
