An unofficial full LP of Translating the Name using all songs from the TTN era with Anthony's original vocals from 2002-2003 (aside from the demo No Angel which features Beau on the mic, made before Anthony joined the band, but still same era). No fuckin kidding they’re insane especially for a post hardcore band. I wish we could hear the master tracks cuz nobody knows how to cover these songs myself included. Even the original drummer didn’t play them right. I remember reading it was a session drummer, some dude who happened to be working with the recording studio.

It's wild that they tried to redo Mookie's Last Christmas and it sounds so much worse. This version is this gorgeous piece of power pop that blooms and is a kind of monument to grief, and the versions the band has uploaded all feel more like bad covers. I think this is my favorite iteration of the band, there's so much going on, and the musicianship is so tight. Anthony Green's vocals give a lot of emotionality that fits the really melodramatic lyrics. The other vocalist is good, no shade on him, but the sound of that era of Saosin is farther removed from the more Shellac-y and Sunny Day Real Estate-y sounds inflected with modern hardcore sounds on this release. Also Anthony Green goes to some Usurp Synapse-y places with his harsh vocals, which fucks.

Nah Cove had a cool voice. Cove is more of a mid-tenor while Anthony is a High Tenor. If you listen to Cove era-Saosin with that in mind you can appreciate his voice and realize its a bit heavier than Green's even if it is still light.
