Weather - we were there in mid-July and it was up to 90 degrees during daytime, and only got down to mid-50s at night. We had thunderstorms roll through each afternoon but only a little rain.

It's really pretty, I would need more shade. I've seen a campground in Chama that had way more shade. I think it's Rio Chama RV Park. Wish I could go there.

yes, true. If you want deep forest or tons of shade, its not for you.

Did you guys ever find any opal or cool rocks out there?
@RobinT-treehugger Жыл бұрын
We never looked for any rocks. Is that area known for them?

Unfortunately it’s permanently closed
@RobinT-treehugger Жыл бұрын
It is not permanently closed, it is closed for season and reopens in Spring, usually mid-May. A friend of ours is the camp host again this coming year and says they have the well working now, too.

Big difference in altitude from Albuquerque to Hopewell. Take care when hiking at those higher altitudes.

Nope don’t do pay camping, too many mining roads throughout the mountains camp anywhere you want for free.
@RobinT-treehugger Жыл бұрын
In that area there are several roads with "boondocking" however that isn't for everyone. Some people prefer an organized campground. There's something for everyone out there. Thanks for watching.
