Career ender, and even more-Joe Lipsey walked into that ring with a 25-0 record, 20 KOs.

Saw this fight on ABC. What a shame the networks don't show boxing anymore. Hopkins is my favorite fighter.

First of all, I attended Bernard's last two fights live, so I'd say I have plenty of respect for him. As far as the power last-to-go thing, this can be true of some fighters, but it's this is canard boosted heavily by Foreman-Moorer (and Moorer had a pushbutton chin). In Bernard's case, I truly believe he would have iced today's Taylor and Tarver with sheer power ten years ago. For an old man, he moves incredibly well.

Watching a tough fighter get ruined with one combination is a fearful thing. This was when B-Hop was the Executioner, before he became Bore-Hop.

I'm really fed up to read those types of comments on Hopkins!! If you don't know a shit about boxing then shut your mouth!! Hopkins should be an inspiration for every boxing fans. He had every thing a boxer needs to be a champion: good balance, amazing footwork, good jab, power (in both hands), great defense (0 cut, never been knocked out in 55 fights!!!!). This fighter is a MASTER of the sport. Now he's old but definitively deserves all the respect!! FACT

Lot of people don’t know Joe Lipsey was battling undiagnosed Graves’ disease… a great dude… but he struggled through at least two of his previous fights… two warriors 😎

Definitely true, and Bernard is my favorite fighter. However, he earned some criticism for having promised to knock Taylor out in the rematch. I went down to Vegas expecting a much more aggressive Bernard. However, did show the keener accuracy and kept the fight interesting with pinpoint shots.

I saw Bernard Hopkins live in Las Vegas when he fought Jermain Taylor the first time. I thought he won the fight, but it was a close decision that didn't go his way.

@kforcer3 жыл бұрын
Ring had Lipsey as a top 5 middleweight, I think, at least top 10, at the time of this fight.

Well Roy did break a man's rib with a body shot KO! Both fighters are great in my opinion.

I'll have to go to the videotape, but as I recall that O'Grady's "...has proved that he's got a solid chin" at the beginning of the CLIP refers to Lipsey.

hopkins wasn't a KO artist, but he's the only guy to knock out trinidad and the only one to put de la hoya down for 10.

B Hops' power is in his technique and accuracy. That was a textbook uppercut, thrown right where lipsey never saw it. Froze him, already out.
@pearcemark212 жыл бұрын
@jessejay777 It's a shame how some people always bust on B-Hop for his biggest fights being smaller guys, but then those same assholes worship Hagler. His biggest fights were former lightweights and welterweights Hearns, Duran, and Leonard. But he gets endlessly praised while Hopkins gets shit on. Sad.

@MrZevv umm he is still a match. He beat Pascal and won the light heavyweight title, spanked Kelly Pavlik arrguably beat Calzaghe. Until the Dawson fiasco he was top 10 ranked pound for pound, I'd say he is a match. Jones is washed up, no question, but B-Hop is still beating up young bucks.

@2strong2cool Best in terms of what? sure, he's smarter and has more tricks of his sleeve, but best is subjective depending on the style. The BEST version of hopkins (to compete against Calzaghes style) would have been a the younger, stronger, faster, more aggressive fighter. The Older, smarter, more TECHNICAL fighter that Calzaghe beat, would always lose thanks to low activity and a worse tank.
@svmsung32116 жыл бұрын

You're crazy. I like your videos but you don't seem to have enough respect for b-hop. They say power is the last thing to go. He's a smart economical fighter who holds back for the right moment, but you can't ignore the power he displayed in his recent knockouts. Even in his fight with Tarver 2 classes up he displayed enough power to put Tarver on the run.
