Thank god, a video that's actually separating jumping, boosting and relaxed upper body vs pulling. It's so hard to get these explanations in one video as some people only do one or the other so you get so much conflicting information (ie. Pull, don't pull etc). Loving these new videos you guys have been doing lately, lots of really good info :)

This is the best way I've seen demonstrated in how to do an American bunny hop from scratch. I used the scooping technique on my pedals which burns up more energy. But this looks much easier. Thank you Simon.

Ahh, the "feature board". I've jumped that things so many times and haven't found anything that replicates it since your classes. Glad there are clear shots of it here so I can build my own :)

I used to practice this a lot when I did BMX. Useful skill to have in Georgia, where I bunny-hopped a water moccasin (on my race bike) and a diamondback rattlesnake (on my mountain bike). 😄

Nice guys. I’ve been learning to boost of roots and log rolls. This fits right in. Definitely a lot more hucking it! You guys have a great vibe going. Keep it up.

Love that you didn't make her attempt the plastic ramp. Lends a lot to the authenticity of these videos

A great way to use the bunny hop is to pre-hop into a downward slope to add some extra power to pumping the terrain. It uses a lot of energy but it's pretty fun.

Nice timing! I had a bit of an epiphany a couple of days ago, on a related topic. I've been using trail features to "bump jump" for some time. Usually roots or logs built into the lip of a jump. For some reason, if it is a solid object like a log, I have no problem using it to gain extra height when jumping. But if I see a sharp(er than usual) lip at the top of a take-off on a jump, it freaks me out. Something about it looks scary, even though it is, in theory, a variation of the same thing. Going to work on trying to get my head around it when I approach those steeper lips.

Didn't hear the teacher emphasize this enough, but you gotta lean back for a bunny hop. It's really the most crucial part.

What doctor did Leneia use for her shoulder? I haven’t fixed mine since 2016 and it’s getting bad

Dr B at OPA Ortho in Seattle. Has a minimally invasive technique for broken clavicles that gets you back to normal fast. Worked for me.

Can you please share the dimensions of the plastic ramp? Or where you bought it from? I made one but I ended up making it a bit too poppy. :)

It looks the wheels are too big for her- I couldn’t ride a bike where the wheels are at waist height.

Yeah, these upper body-heavy maneuvers are exceedingly challenging for smaller riders, particularly women with short torsos. The wheels look big, but the bigger problem is the long reach, which puts smaller riders at a terrible disadvantage in terms of leverage. The bike industry keeps making bikes longer and longer, and short-torsoed/armed ladies need to work extra hard to get that front wheel off the ground for a manual or even a wheelie. It's a huge stumbling block for smaller women interested in tackling technical features other than jumps. The fact that so few manufacturers address this issue even with their women's bikes is shocking to me. As it is, people with short torsos would really be better off on an older frame with modern components and an angle set, rather than modern, increasingly longer bikes.

you say a lot in your videos that you'll get back to this or that and we'll see the progression, but then we don't usually get to see another video showing it.
