@jodythomas43246 ай бұрын
I bet it won’t even make its budget back, Costner wants so badly to sniff those glory days, to just bask in it all, the glory, the Oscar’s, just one last time. Maybe he’ll get there one day, but I can guarantee right here right now, he won’t be getting there via Horizons. I feel bad for him because it’s his pet project and he’s poured so much of his personal wealth into it, and really shot himself in the foot by leaving the only good thing that happened in his career in the last 20 years, that being Yellowstone, which is honestly terrible but I understand the appeal to middle America, I get it, but he left that all behind and very abruptly and sloppily as well mind you, just to do this film, and I like Costner enough he’s alright, but this will end badly for him, no doubt in my mind. This ain’t the 90’s any more, he just can’t accept that.
@greens2946 ай бұрын
@@jodythomas4324 might not make its money back, but a lot of what you said is very debatable. Outside of Yellowstone, he’s been in at least 10 objectively good projects in the last 20 years. Also Yellowstone is far from terrible. Great reviews and a huge audience. So not sure what metric you’re operating on there outside of your own opinion. Which of course you’re entitled to, but phrase it as that, not a fact. Yes the 90s are past, and movie business is not what it was. Few things make profit. But if you have the money, which of course Costner does, why not throw it at a passion project while theaters are still in business

@mykstericeferg12585 ай бұрын
I hope that is from the OST, because most trailer music are “temp tracks”, because often the film is not scored until late in post production- like only a couple/few months before the premiere. But with this trailer hitting so late in the game (it just debuted about 2 weeks ago at the Canne Film Festival😳), it probably is the actual score we’re hearing!😃

Kevin has worked his way into the conversation of being one of America's greatest western actors. Up there with Alan Ladd, Clint Eastwood, John Wayne and the great Walter Brennan. I knew he was special when I first saw him in Silverado. As for this Saga, or any other western, I watch with conflicted heart because I'm pretty sure, Native Americans will not be properly portrayed. Not out of ignorance but out protectionism. The protection of how we as a nation got to where we are today. Let's now sugar coat the fact that this great country was built by trampling over anyone or anything that stood in the way of its progress. I won't sit here a lie that I'm not enjoying being born, Black and American because I can see the alternatives all over the world. I hit the lottery being born in America BUT being a student of history, I also have to pay reverence to those that paved the way and NOT forget the innocent peoples who suffered in order for us to be here this day. In the words of Forrest Gump, "and that's all I got to say bout that." :-)

Really sorry it bombed in the theater. My wife and I saw Horizon in the theater and it was awesome on the big screen. If you look at the first movie as a book in the process of world building and character development through cinema it will fascinate you. The photography and scenes created for the movie were panoramic and captured the soul of the frontier along with the majesty of the wilderness. This first movie created a terrific foundation for a great story with characters you care about. We absolutely loved it and hope, at the very least, Netflix and Costner agree to purchase the rest of the series.

However, as a card-carrying member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, I wish a filmmaker would create a movie depicting my Oklahoma neighbors, the Comanche and Kiowa. Nothing at all against the Apache, Sioux and Cheyenne out there, but a film involving the Southern Plains Indians would be a refreshing change. That being said, having parts one and two only in theaters is genius.
