Quite a few people actually, Bea's tone is quite fuzzy and boomy in the low end, not really suited for tight djent tones that the apex is aiming for.

I loved the demo but (don't want to be this person) but I wish we could of heard it through an effect loop return rater being stacked on top of the EQ from the kraken or through a clean low gain amp to see how it would react. Otherwise I hope some of the riff you played in the demo are on Fire by the Silos!

I just checked it out next to a Ceres on my channel...as a lot of us expected, these folks used them into channels of amps and such because this thing needs A LOT of help to sound decent.

I love how Rabbea just has 5150s, Marshalls, and Victorys just stacked up hanging out in the back and he's just casually using a Kemper as a table for this pedal. This is the level I wish to be at someday.

Hahah, well, the 5150’s and Marshall I collected over the years way before KZbin. In old bands etc, lending to mates and getting them back. But yeah the victory stuff and the kemper came much later. I’m genuinely thankful and lucky to have the gear, and wouldn’t dream of taking it for granted. Thanks for watching dude!

Correct me if im wrong but if you plug this into the return of your amp you could basically just use this as your amp. so wah compressor and overdrive infront of the Apex in the signal chain and then after you would have your chorus delay reverb etc, and then plug all that into the return of the amp you have. so you can have all these pedals but you wont have to plug the modulation and time effects into an effects loop because they are after the Apex in the signal chain. hope this makes sense.

Great box. The cab sim add on would be interesting to also try as a re amp box to grot up strings synths bland samples maybe even filthy snares and dirty kicks. Dig that the gate almost goes square closing. To my ears the gain was more appealing at lower settings where the even odd harmonics got through..cool vid

Apex + invective MH would be the best sounding in my opinion, but the best sound for the price would probably be the apex + boss katana head. Good luck on your tone journey my friend :)

This pedal is great if you feel like paying for $120 more for an already existing pedal with just adding cab sim which doesn’t really feel or sound worth it honestly for being $320 the MXR 5150 pedal is literally the same thing played side by side they sound the same and there is a $120 price difference for $80 more you can get the KSR Ceres which not only sounds better for djenty tones but has 3 channels instead of basically 1 with a boost option

Sounds great! I'd be interested to know what it's like going into the FX return of an amp, or into one of the modern solid state power amps like the SD Powerstage. Wonder if the pedal reacts very differently that way as opposed to in front of an amplifiers already existing preamp section - as Ola proved in one of his recent vids.

Just did a video of this side by side with a ksr Ceres and man. Rabea made it work..but please do yourself a favor and check out other options outside this. Using it by itself, it's one of the worst standalone preamps I've ever used. The way it's being used here, you could get similar results with a bunch of distortion or even overdrive pedals.

I hate they call it a preamp and the best I have seen using it is like a distorsion pedal or a boost, so I think it is not really a preamp, i find its sound and enclosure like a mod of the MXR 5150 overdrive which misha used as a preamp and as a travel rig

I would skip this and get better speakers. I would recommend a v30 and a creamback. This would improve your tone much more than a pedal.
