Played Horizon Zero Dawn on PC and absolutely loved it. One of my favorite games ever alongside Subnautica. I'm old (Well in to my 60s) and started gaming when PC gaming became a thing, and then online arrived, dial up modem and all. I have been waiting for Forbidden West to arrive on PC so I have intentionally avoided watching any videos about it. Until now that is, "PC port" in your title did it for me, it is on my Steam wishlist and I may even stream it along side so many others that will do the same. Thanks for this, it is information I have been waiting for.

Thank you, this is great news! I don't have a PlayStation, and I've only recently finished HZD Complete Edition on PC. It has become my favorite game of all time, so I've been anxious to learn when I can play Forbidden West and Burning Shores. Your channel has helped me so much with combat strategies for the tougher machines. Question: did Nixxes do the PC port for Zero Dawn too? I've been pleased with it, very few bugs and good performance, so I have high expectations for the Forbidden West port.

Glad you’re excited! I am as well 😁 So the HZD port was originally handled by someone else and it was a mess, but after Sony bought Nixxes they came in and fixed it to make it was it is now. So, yes, the HZD you experienced was a result of Nixxes’s work. I’m glad they’re handling the HFW port from the start this time!

No Nixxes did not do the Zero Dawn port and it was actually pretty bad on release .... In fact it was so bad and so embarrassing that Guerrilla Games almost immediately took over support and redid the port themselves. It's really good now but the first couple of months after release it had all kinds of problems including with shader compilation However I don't expect Guerrilla Games to make that same mistake twice which was forced on to them by Sony and they were pretty upset about it as well they should have been.

@@ArktixOfficial Same boat. 4090 with a 7800X3D at 4K. I don't think we will run the game at 120FPS natively, seeing that the original runs at 130-140'ish FPS. However, with DLSS Quality, it should be possible.

When you play on PC, do you switch to mouse and keyboard, or stick with a controller? If the former, do you change your strategies and techniques? If the latter, what controller do you recommend? I’d be interested in a video on this topic if you think there’s enough to talk about.

Good question. When I played HZD on PC, I played with keyboard + mouse. I wouldn’t say it changed my strategies techniques in HZD, but with the combat system being more complex in Forbidden West, maybe it will be a bigger difference. It’s much easier to aim with a mouse, so you can be a bit more tactical/strategic with tearing off specific components, triggering canisters, etc.

I can't wait! I put a lot of time into horizon zero dawn on the ps4 and decided to go the pc route this gen. The only "next gen" game I've bought for ps4 so far has been god of war ragnorok and I think that will be my ps4's swan song because rift apart and miles morales were awesome on pc and I'm really looking forward to forbidden west and the dlc!

hey bro i noticed your vocals have a lot of bass (hum) in them. I'm listening on studio monitors in a treated room. you can fix this with EQ. an easy way is to use a High Pass Filter or bring the gain down on everything up to 100HZ on the EQ plug in. just trying to help you since you helped me a lot. here an example where the Hum gets excessive 2:14 2:26 . Peace

Hey thanks for this feedback. I’m always trying to dial in my audio chain and quality to make it better and better, so I honestly appreciate the feedback. It’s interesting you’re hearing some low frequency hum. I do actually put a high pass filter on all my audio at 100Hz. I also edit with Sennheiser 770 Pro 250 Ohms, which have a very neutral profile. A couple of other people have also mentioned they’re hearing too much low frequency in my audio, specifically when listening on studio monitors. So, I’m wondering if perhaps people with studio monitors have their bass turned up. Could you tell me if you boost the bass on your monitors/subwoofer at all?

I'm just curious on how they gonna manage the keybindings (since forbidden west have different combat mechanics compared to Zero down) with all that weapon skill + valor surge 😂

That's a good point. I suppose it's only 2 additional keys to bind though: one for trigger weapon techniques while you're drawing the weapon and another to trigger valor surges while you have the weapon wheel open. A mouse with a few side buttons on it will definitely be helpful.

You totally should! It's arguably the most graphically impressive game out there at the moment and it will only look even better on a high-end PC! If you haven't played Zero Dawn first yet though, I highly recommend doing so. It's on sale right now!

YEEEEES, YEEEEEEES, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES, finally, Zero Dawn for me was one of two best open world RPG games in history. May 2015 Witcher 3 comes i played it and in order to fill that emptiness i experienced when i tried to play another open world game i kept comming back to it in my free time cuz nothing else could fill it... Other games felt lacking, unpolished, booring. Untill they relased Zero Dawn on PC in 2020. After long wait they finally they decided to launch Forbidden west in steam store and I can't wait till it is available. There should be no PS5 exclusive nonsence when it comes to such awesome titles.

Sadly I think the pc port will be labeled as unoptimized because of vram limitation for a lot of people. The way the ps5 handles memory can make really difficult the porting to pc. Or it will launch unoptimized than after a few mounts of patching it will run on high refresh rate on most of the PC's like zero dawn did.

They really have to be clear about the specs in advance just like what mirage did. They specifically told every little detail in various different graphic setting scenarios. Me personally, I have a mid range pc so I am hoping I can at least play it on 1080 medium settings ( basically ps4 like ? )

Good question. I don’t think any Sony PC ports have cross save yet, so I wouldn’t expect HFW to either, at least not at launch, but I hope I’m wrong!

@@ArktixOfficial You forgot the Blacktide Quen Commander outfit. It is not so useful anymore after the nerfs, and it looking more like a dyed version of the regular Quen Commander outfit. After the Quen gear nerfs all their outfits are similar to existing ones from the main game. Hundreds of hours later I’m still using the Quen Deadeye as my regular outfit, with 2x +15% plasma defence. “Scared” for lightning attacks… but still hunting down Leaplashers and Tremmortusks with it, lol

Yeah I think you'll be good with an RX6600 for 1080p. Probably could do 1440p as well with somewhat reduced settings. Hard to say at this point, but I'd be surprised if it required something stronger than that to get a solid 1080p 60FPS

The trouble with PC ports is that, while we do get to play the game at higher frame rates, better visual effects, etc. the tradeoff is that you have to wait 5 years for the game to be developed and patched. Then, you have to wait an additional 1.5 years at least for the game to be ported over to PC (if the port isn't trash in the first place). I would rather get my hands on the next Horizon as soon as feasibly possible so I really have no choice but to stick with Sony's mediocre hardware.

ALL Knockdown bug fixed? Would be great....and Elemental retuned...i mean one could say, it´s bugged and needs fixing. Didn´t play the ported game, so can´t say anything about port quality from the company. Just open the up options, Live uh finds a way, i mean...PC players uh finding ways. Wouldn´t mind if PS4 players get a patch with at least the gameplay changes, new skills and maybe a slightly lower version of the new weapons , in line with the current legendaries, so it opens more options due more Ammo availability on Legendaries.

Good question. I’m going to guess no since the base game doesn’t have any RT graphics options. It would be really interesting to see what difference an RT mode would make for HFW though. It already looks so good. I suppose RT reflections would be cool.

Honestly I want Zero Dawn again, but with the updated combat mechanics and quality of life of Forbidden West plus its superior graphics. Mainly in the area of the mocap, because holy shit the conversations are so boring in that game with how stale and lifeless the characters are while speaking, whereas in Forbidden West and even Frozen Wilds the characters have so much more life in their movement.

Do you think the PC version will be upgraded version of the PS5. I have a Ryzen 5700X and RTX 3080Ti. I loved Herizon Zero Dawn. I only play PC so I had to wait for the PC port. I can't wait for modders to give her back her old face.

I think it will probably have some modest improvements like ray-traced shadows. Even if it just looks as good as it does on PS5 though, it will be one of/the best looking game on PC!
