I think tsushima will be fine. The devs even mention that it's be scalable for handheld pcs. Rebirth might need a steam deck 2 though considering how demanding it is on the ps5

This is very surprising. Got the platinum on PS5 and highly recommend the game, it's amazing and I did not expect it to play on Steam Deck at all, a nice surprise.

It looks good on the Deck, it may get better with fsr 3.1 and with valve updates for it.

Quick pro tip for deckers , run forbidden west from desktop mode big picture to avoid crashes, bonus pro tip from steam button menu while ingame / settings / display / Crank up shadow saturation for blacker blacks if your feeling jelly of oled owners

Playing Zero Dawn on the Deck right now and people online kept saying pretty much everything has to be set to low or medium as well to make it run pn a passable level. Fiddled around for a bit and found that if I limit fps to 30 I can easily run most things on very high with only a few dips into the 20s every now and then but wirh an overall gorgeous looking game. Seems fine to me and I will be happy to test out Forbidden West down the road and see how much more I can get out of it if I don't listen to the optimal settings guides again :)

WILD how much better this runs than Dragon's Dogma 2, people were clowning on Horizon releasing the same day but Guerilla must be laughing their asses off now seeing that Mostly Negative on Steam

Because the problem with Horizon is that it's just the same Ubisoft open world formula that's been used a billion times. It's really good technically, but that's it.

This makes me chuckle so much. All the fanboys back at the PS5 launch were so convinced these games could only run on a Ps5 because of the "SSD". Now, we have most of these games running on a handheld.

In regards to the steam achievements popping up, this game uses a "counter" system, where it has a "progress bar" to complete the achievement. So in the video you reached level 4, and it popped up because you've gained a point towards completion of the achievement. In Steam Desktop it shows the count but not in Steam Deck.

as far as I can tell, the achievements are not QUITE a bug. the problem is they're all achievements that you can make progress on, and it's alerting you that you made progress, not that you finished. but for some reason it's not showing the progression part of the label, it's supposed to be like Reached Level 60 Reached player level 60. (4/60) when you reach level 4

@@theclawlives yes, nixxes did the port this time around, the same company responsible for FIXING the awful hzd port a few years back. they also did multiple other successful ps game ports.

Also why wouldn't you use Dynamic resolution scaling? It works very well in this game, and will automatically switch between FSR2 in quality, balanced, and performance modes depending on the game load. That way you get better image quality in slow moving or indoor scenes, but it will drop down during intense combat etc to maintain framerate. It works quite well in this game actually and is how the console versions also maintain steady FPS.

if you enable half refresh vsync you will get super stable (for steam deck) performance and up to 60fps mostly

had a the same issue with steam achievements with Euro truck a few weeks back

Be warned the DLC is practically unplayable unless you change the settings again and you have an external fan that doesn’t use the decks power, reduce the settings even further, change the aspect ratio to the lowest setting, and have a good external fan it will still crash, but it’s only certain areas that really have bad moments just finished the DLC and it handled that, managed about 28 FPS -30fps the DLC is poorly optimised as you can go back to the main game and the main map increased the settings to those suggested in the video and it has no issues, i’m sure with some optimisation, it will be able to get 30 FPS

Can you test the performance and visuals of FSR vs TAA upscaling? FSR2 tends to really fall apart at low input resolutions like this. TAA in some recent games has fewer issues with disocclusion and shimmering than FSR2.

The rog ally is where it’s at I can get in the 50s on my ally at low and with the vrr it feels butter smooth the deck is just aging badly with newer games

istg i got like a super steam deck or something been playing this for 8 ish hours no fsr (looks 1000000x better without it until the fsr3.1 patch comes out hope its soon) and medium preset with texture and water (i like water) set to the highest and yeah its at a rock solid 30fps

No, they are registering correctly on the Steam game page, but it seems where it should update progress it just shows the achievement

We all just need to be relaxed about these types of results. We can't expect it to surpass or be on par with a PS5 or mid-end PC. The Steam Deck will always be a great device on its own. Soon, it will be more outdated than it should be and will require developers to truly optimize the games to make it work. Just not all of them are going to cater to fully support the deck at the release date.

God the FSR2 ghosting/hair corruption looks so bad lol. I can't wait for AMD to hopefullly fix this in the next release, as even quality mode looks pretty awful compared to XESS and DLSS.

Ooof! This looks rough! Dipping below 30 in combat a lot. ...And this is only the beginning area of the game..! I have the game on PS4 Pro. It looks the part, but the story is boring and the game has the "Let's add this too! ...And this! ...And this!!!" syndrome that a lot of part II games have. Aloy is also constantly yapping and spoiling puzzles with her yapping. The climbing is still shite too. The map has so many icons it looks like a Christmas tree with 5.000.000 lights. I loved the first one! Even finished the DLC. Loved the story. I didn't finish the second one. After 25 hours I was done with it. There is a reason Elden Ring was GotY and this wasn't...

I hope driver updates are coming from nVidia. My $3000 laptop with an RTX 2080 Super runs about 5fps better than this, at 720p, low settings, DLSS on. Its actually quite embarrassing.
