I loved all this scheming in Forbidden West. Syllens was using Regalla and acting behind Aloy's back with the base strike, while Aloy in return was acting with Tilda behind his back with their own invasion plan. Tilda herself betrayed the Zeniths in favour of Aloy, but also was acting behind Aloy's back, not telling the Zeniths' master plan. While Aloy teammed with Beta, Alva and Kotallo to act behind Tilda's back, by releasing Hephaestus at the printer and getting the full Zeniths' data. Syllens, Tilda and Aloy all worked together but all acted behind each other's back.

Tilda is a fascinating character study for a villain. A Sociopathic manipulator who masquerades as a guiding hand or teacher, a beacon of emotional comfort that hides a Groomer. She idolizes those she thinks are her betters but still tries to control them as we can assume from her talks with Sobek. She couldn't contest with Sobek on a scientific level but somehow she still was able to use her emotional manipulation to get past her paranoia and emotional barriers. Enough so to not only get Apollo but possibly her DNA to make a clone... or more that we may not know of *shivers* scary idea Tilda trying to remake Sobek for 1000 years.

It is interesting to come back on a second, third, or even a fifth take to see where Tilda lies and manipulates. First with Jeremiah, she actually misunderstands the entire concept of the painting. Then when she explains her reasoning for why she left Beta in the past and closed the data channel. However, she also said Gerard, and thus the other Zeniths, could never imagine she could outwit them. A contradiction to say the least. She tries so desperately to distance herself from the Zeniths from the start, however she takes no personal accountability. Tilda immediately starts the conversation outside the vault by claiming she isn’t another Zenith, and tries desperately to reinforce it by arguing and countering Aloy’s statements about the Zenith’s and Tilda’s implied (or accused) involvement with them. However, at the end of the day Tilda IS a Zenith, and was there for Beta’s entire cold and calculated upbringing. Her questioning of Gerard was surface level, and rarely lasted long. She only mentions the loss of Varl once, and even then uses it to quickly change the subject back to art. After that she never mentions him, or her ability to act before she did again. Note how she is only “helpful” when Aloy does what Tilda wants. She only talks about reclaiming Gaia after Aloy caves and sits down at the breakfast table. Upon Aloy questioning Selene and Endymion being cold Tilda, ironically just as coldly, suggests moving onto another painting. This is because Aloy isn’t following Tilda’s script of emotion, and is instead thinking logically while looking at the painting. The only other times Tilda helps Aloy is when Aloy threatens to cut off contact with Tilda. Aloy questioning Tilda’s want to help before opening the data channel to Beta was a threat to Tilda’s entire plan. She needed to seem helpful, and thus ends up getting manipulated by Aloy a bit in kind. Why? Because Aloy won’t stop using her logical mind despite Tilda’s insistence of emotion. In the end, Tilda believes she is still manipulating Aloy to her ultimate goal and goes along with the plan because of it. But Aloy, seeing the cracks, was onto Tilda from the start.

Tilda had no use for Varl, her near perfect copy of Elizabeth Sobek is all she wanted and no one else. I do imagine she could have saved him but I think this was another plot for her to use Aloy's emotional side to fuel her anger and blind her to her real plan. Thankfully Aloy knew better. I really hated that Varl died, from the moment i saw him in the games opening I felt like they were setting him up with a death flag so bad.

Tilda had her eyes set upon Aloy from the very beginning, in her first appearance she expresses her wish to tale Aloy with her after her realisation that she was a clone of Elisabet Sobeck. She may have seen Varl as a danger to her plan, someone to rip a gaping hole in her story of lies and take away Elisabet from her again, she had someone else do the dirty work, absolving herself of responsibility in the process, which left her with the perfect opportunity to take Aloy with her and satisfy her hunger to resolve her regret.

Something I noticed about Tilda talking about art. She only talks about the feelings said art conveys. Even how the art was created, various facts and misconceptions, all tie back into one thing: Emotion. Even when describing the message the artist tries to convey always goes back to emotion and feeling. It gives us a unique insight into Tilda’s thought process. She is smart, yes, but intelligence is not what drives her decisions. Only her emotions matter to her. Not only is Tilda controlled to her emotions, her feelings, it is also the basis of all her manipulation. She may seem calm and collected, but gazing at her you feel her regret, her disconnect, and ultimately her madness.

True, she explained half truths especially she is the lover of Elisabet. She regretted of leaving her behind on Earth since a 1000 years. When she saw Aloy the way she acts reminds Tilda of her. Thats why she wanted them to eliminate the Zeneth & take Aloy with her by force along with Gaia alone. Just to refresh a new start & find & create another new world & people for themselves as gods till Aloy refused to go with her & start battling each other & then defeated. I'll say Tilda is a sad villain who lost the only person she loved most.

Talk about a colored interpretation (and cherry-picking of facts) of the myth of Endymion. Selene had Zeus put him in an eternal sleep so she could look at him forever... and there is at least one account that she had fifty daughters by him. It's the original Sleeping Beauty, complete with somnophilia. Also, the goddess associated with chastity is Artemis - also a goddess associated with the moon, but she is not Selene - and Artemis just wasn't interested in boinking - no vow of chastity required.

Love makes people do crazy things. Tilda was willing risk sparing Aloy for the chance to reconnect with at least Elisabet's likeness, the next best thing to having her back after a millenia. All this time she could not forget about Lis. That likeness was probably a big reason she was the one to be nice to, and treat Beta better than the rest of the Zeniths. True, but I think she was lost and confused before she met Elizabet. Lost people can either decide to be humble, and find the genuine truth in things and themselves, and accept things and people as they are, and love in a way that allows them to be free, or they can become haughty, not look for truth, and try to control circumstances and people around them in order to make themselves feel better about their insecurities and how lost they are, all while staying lost, because those methods only make things worse, not help. This type of stuff happens in real life, and I think the writers really got it right with this type of personality style. People like that often become creepers or kidnappers, due to their control issues, and lack of self-control.

Does anyone else feel like the Nemesis thing at the end was a hastily written cash grab for a third installment? It made sense that the Zeniths were here to take Earth back to stay, but that they're running from a scary cloud of angry through the galaxy seemed like a toss-in.
@felixthecat580
@felixthecat580 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it was a hastily written cash grab, they took a long time to developed the game so i'm sure they planned it. I wasn't really thrilled with it either, the Zeniths were great but the whole Nemesis thing just felt like they were trying to make the story have larger and larger stakes without a huge amount of thought into it. I think if they spent more time on Nemesis in the story and it wasn't just a random thing that popped up in the last 15 minutes of the game that literally had no foreshadowing it would have felt better.

@Bustermachine
@Bustermachine 2 жыл бұрын
Oh she was defintely being manipulative, but I get the feeling that she was mostly lying by omission or by manipulating the truth, casting it in the most favorable light for herself, rather than speaking outright falsehoods. Her feeling of misery surroudned by the other Zenith's, for instance, I think was sincere. How she talks about her art collections suggests she still has a lot more emotional bandwidth than some of her compatriots. To a degree, I think she was even lying to herself to justify her attempted abduction of Aloy.
@decusq
@decusq 2 жыл бұрын
@@Bustermachine I would agree a lot with that analysis of her character. She's very guarded when she doesn't see opportunity. However with her near perfect copy of Elizabet Sobek she still has to let some of her true colors come out just for her. Enough to try and lure Aloy into emotional comfort but not enough to let Aloy onto her real plan. I imagine just like Elizabet she planned that whole approach to her form the moment she finished watching her focus life unfold before her eyes. Telling her about her being alone and isolated as an orphan, definitely chosen specifically. Constantly saying how isolated she is amoung the other zeniths and even her human peers wehn she was still human. Then telling Aloy she got along with Elizabet well enough to get to know her. She chose her words carefully to try and trap her but just like Sobek, Aloy had the upper hand here. She never trusted her even with her olive branches.

This game should have been The Best Game Of The Year 2022! No doubt of that! Ideal sequel like Mass Effect 2, mechanics amazing like or even better than The Elder Scrolls, story better than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt... Ladies and gentlemen, hats off! Guerilla Games are truly the real masters. From some minor video games, through FPS series known as Killzone where we fight against Space Nazis called Helghast to Horizon, which is the next generation of RPGs. Btw. I don't think Tilda died. Maybe she tricked us somehow and maybe there are more Zeniths at Earth, for example some renegades, whose rebelled against this Matrix-like futuristic society.

I really got psyched for what _looked like_ what was happening. Minor spoilers for the game, but Tilda and Elisabet were close. With Aloy being an outcast, shunned by her tribe, only a father figure to look up to, and being a bold, independent woman, imagine my excitement when it looked like a *mother figure* was finally stepping into her life. I mean, having a mountain as a mother isn't exactly the same. That's like, all she ever wanted to find out in the first game. Yes, her real "mom" is Elisabet, but she can't have two moms? Like an adopted one? I WISH Guerilla just left her character alone, and this tea party thing on her balcony would be her character. I kind of liked the gentle, wise and intuitive approach they were going with her. It compliments Aloy's swift, active, brash character so well. Sometimes Aloy might need a person to just sit down with in her life and talk about deeper things. Imagine how many QUESTIONS Aloy would have about Elisabeth, and Tilda would have the answers for. They could talk for hours about JUST THAT. *Sigh.* But instead. Guerilla effed that up, too. Not a fan of what happens at the end of the game. Man, they should have had the balls to just have SYLENS' true colors leak through, and be the bad guy, instead of the other way around. I would have liked a new addition to our cast.

I honestly loved the twist with Tilda. She never wanted to be a motherly figure to Aloy, she wanted Aloy to replace Elisabeth, her long lost love, out of guilt from how their relationship ended and spending a millenia obsessing over Sobeck. You get breadcrumbs of foreshadowing right from the start of the game; the datapoints of convos between Tilda and Elisabeth, up until the introduction of Beta - think about it; Tilda was intimate with Elisabeth for a while. If someone managed to steal Liz's DNA, it had to be her. She tried to groom Beta into the Elisabeth she knew and loved, but ended up leaving her when she realized Beta turned out to be an emotional mess. Meanwhile Aloy reminded her of the formidable force Liz was, and therefore she wanted her. I think this perfectly plays into Aloy's main arc in Forbidden West, which main theme is about her learning to trust and rely on others, while also slowly realizing the void of romance in her life and how she actually longed for it too (its subtle, but pay attention to how hurt she looked when she saw Varl and Zo, also Talanah and Amadis). In juxtaposition, Tilda came in and tried to win her trust and provided with the (yet again, subtle, but its there if you pay attention) offer of romance, but with a very dark twist.

Seems to me that if someone doesn't want spoilers they would probably avoid watching videos about it. There is this thing called personal responsibility. Is it the creators fault you or anyone else clicked on there video AND watched it all the way thru? No. It's the individual persons. If the game or story are spoiled for them they have only themselves to blame. How does this fact get over looked so often

@@Fingerscrossedout and original commenter, how can this spoil anything if you haven't played the game nor watched the story of Forbidden West? This would be very out of context for someone like that and you'd still be clueless as to what's happening. Plus, you didn't come here by mistake. You either searched for Forbidden West on KZbin or you've been watching a lot of videos about Horizon so you get recommend. Stop being so toxic because of a simple video with some story. The game is two weeks and it is your responsibility for clicking it. Shut up with the spoiler stuff already!

Because there are others who don’t care about not being spoiled and just want to find out about the lore instead of seeing a title “Part 30” and having to scroll through hours of video or having to guess what an ambiguous title is about. If anything, you’re selfish for thinking that KZbin revolves around what you want. If you and anyone else wants a walkthrough, here’s a tip: type in the name of the game and add “walkthrough” to the search.
