Been playing this game since it was, "Oh, that's the new one from the people who made Killzone," saw it rise to, "That's that game with the robot dinosaurs," to a thriving community hyped for Forbidden West! My dad bought me the first copy(which I lost and subsequently found). And it got me through losing my dad. It's my favorite original game of all time. I've spent dozens of playthroughs. And I can pinpoint any piece of music from the plot of the vanilla game and TFW. And every second of it was worth it.
@vercoda99973 жыл бұрын
Just a quick shout-out to the writers of the first game - congratulations on doing an excellent job all round, not just with Aloy (probably the most well-rounded, complex and naturally believable female character I've seen in my 40-ish years of gaming, who successfully avoided falling into tired, trite and clichéd Strong Woman tropes which almost every last leading or key female character is hit with), but also with the side and secondary characters too, as well as the superb world building, lore, story and arcs. Well done! I'm really hoping the sequel can maintain that excellent quality...
@maxgrieve3 жыл бұрын
Really enjoyed the conversation about closure, particularly around those key points - Sylens speculating on cryogenics at Maker's End, Aloy's "she said she was going home" line at GAIA Prime. I noticed those bits of that dialogue and hung onto every word of them when I was playing through the first time, and it really made me invested in Aloy uncovering the truth and ultimately finding Lis. That's the power of telling a relatable story with a relatable protagonist. I also admit: all those little details meant I honestly still held a thin sliver of hope Aloy might find her alive, right up until that last cut scene in the gardens of Sobeck Ranch. I thought 'yeah, it would be unlikely and my sci-fi sensibilities say cloning and nothing more, but maybe we could still get a fantasy happy ending'. And then we didn't, and I cried a bit. But it was perfect. Love this game and love this character arc.

I enjoyed this and look forward to future installments. HZD almost immediately became one of my favorite games ever. Zero Dawn is my all time favourite game, and Forbidden West is already pre-ordered. Thank you for this! I can't wait for the next episode. @scruffylookingNerfherder57423 жыл бұрын
I couldn't agree more. I actually just finished playing horizon zero dawn last night and I can honestly say that there is nothing about the game I don't love! From the very first time I played it and say the first scene where Aloy fell into the old ruins, I was hooked. Seeing a laboratory that was naturally becoming like a cave with stalactites and stalagmites all over the place along with all the mummified bodies, immediately got me wondering just what the hell happened here and how long ago was it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these awesome ladies' questions Ben and Annie! Aloy is my favorite character of any game and Horizon Zero Dawn is my second favorite game only because Forbidden West is my first (since with ForbiddenWest, you'reable to accomplish some of the things you couldn't in Horizon Zero Dawn, but Horizon Zero Dawn will always have a place in my heart since it was the game that started Aloy's journey! And we love Talanah, Erend, ROOOOOST! I'm SO EXCITED to see Talanah and Erend again in the FORBIDDEN WEST ( and maybe Amadis, Vanasha, Uthid, Varl, Gildun, Teb, the 3 Banuk that went to the Sundom, Teersa, Avad👀). Guerrilla, THANK YOU SO MUCH for creating this GORGEOUS franchise and Aloy, who decided to be what Elisabet always wanted in a child, "Curious, and willful-unstoppable, even. But with enough compassion... to heal the world...just a little bit," and who will face new challenges and mysteries with the help of her Divide and Conquer team (as I like to call them) in the FORBIDDEN WEST!🌎🏹👩🦰👑🌄🏞🌌🌅🔨🎶😭😭😭😭

Great first episode. I just played trough the game for the second time in preparation for Forbidden West and it was awesome. Great to hear the info from the developers. This is a great way to revisit what's so special about Horizon Zero Dawn, as was my recent play-through of the game itself. Loved the insights from people directly involved with the game, and look forward to more with the sequel. One criticism? The episode could have done without the "what did you think of this episode?" chatter at the end. That came across as asking your guests to say something nice on camera rather than soliciting genuine feedback, so it feels insincere. Ask them when the cameras stop rolling, and trust that you'll hear plenty from your audience when the episodes go live. 😉

26:22 This was the exact moment I knew it was cloning, and I honestly I think the only way you don't figure it out here is if you don't know genetics (like Aloy). Because a 99% genetic match can really only mean one thing with very little wiggle-room.
@WordSarien2 жыл бұрын
Same. Honestly, I think knowing that Aloy was (understandably) wrong about the nature of her birth gave her search a really tragic undertone. I knew well before Aloy that she'd never find her mother, at least not in the way she wanted. Granted, I think Aloy figured it out when she found out Sobeck lived hundreds of years ago - she just was desperate to find an alternate explanation. (Edited for formatting)
@Druffmaul2 жыл бұрын
I'd be amazed if there were many players who didn't figure it out at that point. Who among us is so uneducated and ignorant that they don't know the simple basics of genetics and cloning? It's junior high science class.

It is undoubtedly a Masterpiece. Thank you Guerrilla for this wonderful and beautiful experience. For me the most emotional scene was when the door in All-Mother Mountain opened for her. There were other emotional moments, like listening to General Herres's final testimonial that didn't make it into the archive, or Elisabeth's final sacrifice to seal the door and the recordings right after it where everyone poured out their feelings for her. This episode really had me tearing up a bit 😂 Aloy is such an inspiring character and her whole origin story is really moving in so many ways (they both describe it perfectly). It's cool to listen to the developers' perspectives about her, it kinda adds even more depth to her motivations and desires. I really hope Forbidden West has this level of care and effort poured into it. Thank you guys for this! I loved this game. I love how the story unfolded and showed a glimpse into our future if we are not careful but also how we can endure and push on.
