The way all the mysteries of Horizon's narrative gradually reveal themselves is one of the most satisfying journeys in video games. Sometimes I wish I could erase all memories of the story and start over.

I concur. I mean, throughout the story, I remember thinking Man I wonder if Lizbeth figured out a way to survive and is still trying to work out a way to save the world. But then Inwas like.. I shouldn't be silly that couldn't happen and then as we go to her Ranch to find the Suit it felt like a fitt8ng send off. Sticks with her character and is touching as Aloy gets to meet her "mom" if you will.

My favorite part of Horizon's lore has to be the fragments we get to see of life before the end of the world, and the various ways that people deal with that. The vantage points and the Last Girls on Earth data points in particular hit me really hard.

Fun fact but it’s revealed in an art book that the spear given by Sylens is actually an antenna connected to that lamp thing. So Hades didn’t seek out Sylens after cuz it wanted to.

I'm probably years late but after playing Horizon Zero dawn and getting post game depression after finishing, I had to check if I missed anything. Very informative double parts there. I think I didn't miss much initially but having everything put in historical order does help appreciate the story and the writting even more which is insane. I'll probably take few weeks off before I try Horizon Forbidden West (also I'll be waiting for a discount on epic games or steam as these games are not cheap lol) which should give me time to heal a bit lol. Thanks for the great narration!

I played the game 4 years ago and honestly don't remember like 70% of these things 😅 The fact that it's a super long open-world game makes it more difficult to connect the dots as we play. This video is very much needed. Thanks Zoe!

i started replaying this game around the time forbidden west was announced, but never finished that replay. this video is making me want to return to it, big time. i love the setting of horizon, and all the thought that's gone into the worldbuilding and characters - i would prefer the sequel to go more into the setting and mythos of the tribes, and a character-driven narrative, but i am still cautiously excited for forbidden west. gonna get back into that hzd replay now - thanks for giving me the nostalgia i needed to do one!

Love the video, but noticed some minor inaccuracies, e.g. Erend tells Aloy about his sister right when he meets her before the Proving and in Meridian, not after she saves Olin (he also doesn't accompany her there). Also not sure if I just missed it, but in part 1 I think you didn't mention that the virus HADES launched corrupted the ELEUTHIA door files, making Aloy unable to access it the first time and prompting her journey outside the Embrace in the first place. This is just me being nitpicky about details though, all in all great job in recounting this fantastic story! I'm about to watch part 3, looking forward to it and can't wait to play Forbidden West. 💕

Loved both of these videos :) I throughly enjoyed playing Horzion zero dawn and getting fully invested into its world and its people. Alloy is the sort of Protagonist that I think we need to see more of in today's video games . I'm dead excited to see the rest of Alloy and Horzion zero dawn story unfold in Forbidden west 😁. Not long left to wait and what my favourite thing about the lore is the power of human technology its has its downsides obviously but you can't deny that its effect on the earth is outstanding . The AI and the Machines they create are what make Horzion zero dawn stand out from other games , combine it with the human elements and the beautiful environments and you have a bloody good RPG experience. My apologies for the long rant and thank you Zoe for making these awesome videos for this channel :).

A series in which I absolutely love the story of along with the lore is the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Many preople claim that the story is impossible to explain and filled with plot holes, but that's largely because they haven't played all of the games due to each game largely being console exclusives to all sots of consoles. Also, it's just a story that you can't really understand and grasp just being told it, you really need to either play the games yourself or watch someone else play them. Also, you tend to need to be a completionist in order to gte information on a lot of really important plot points that you don't really get otherwise.

Hades is an AI - i.e. digital code. To transmit from one place to another, it needs to be transported via some physical storage medium or network. But at that last scene, it just went flying out of the speared canister and flew to Sylens. That somehow didn't sit well with me. :P

I love the machines. In my second play-through I felt bad for killing them, because they're just doing their terraforming duty, cleaning the air and water in order to let life thrive as it once did. Something I had no idea about when I took down innocent machines left, right and center in my first game. 24:32 - The focus network is probably set up like our very own satellite/mobile phone network. Nothing's ever "really private" until it's password has been cracked - just ask the CIA or the Russian or Chinese equivalents. They don't care much about your 8 digits with b1Gsm4LL letters and numbers. It's not completely unthinkable that someone like Sylens would ask Hades for a little "help" in tapping into the network. It's pretty much what Sylens does. The way a lot of data can be reconstructed by the IT crews in intelligence agencies and police, Sylens would have access to some similar techniques and be able to download and restore backups of all sorts of data. And nothing would stop him, if that's what he wanted.
