HORIZONS LEVEL K MATH // REVIEW AND UPDATE// WHAT ABOUT MATH-U-SEE??

We switched to Horizons Math for level K, instead of Math U See. So how is it going? Do I regret it, or love it? Or somewhere in between. In this video I will give a bit of an in-use review, and let you know how it compares to Math- U- See... and what will we be using as the year continues.

I totally understand where you’re coming from. I started with Primer with my oldest and went with other curriculum. Now we are going back to MUS and pairing it with Kumon books or Skills Sharpeners for those other specific math skills. I can see now on the other side the strength behind mastery in the basic mathematic operations. It’s so child dependent though. I can even see how my second child may be different 😊 it’s like a revolving puzzle 🤣

Yes, a revolving puzzle seem very accurate! So child dependent, and I think even age and readiness dependent. Primer just was not the ticket for my son at the level he was, but now the methods seem to work better for him :)

My daughter and I love Horizons K Math. She can do it on her own and I check the work. We pair it with Good and Beautiful level 1, only because it reinforce the material with added games. Horizons will not leave our homeschool no time soon.

I am wondering what the new simply good and beautiful math looks like! For now horizons is working for us, pairing it with math U see, but I am hopeful I will find something that fits with less modifications from me:)

This didn’t work for us 😞 But we’ll be using the second book during summer time just for review. I really wanted my kindergartner to like it!

I hope you found something that does work! I now do I hybrid of horizons and math u see- every family and child have their own needs!

This is exactly where we are with Primer now. We are on lesson 22 of 30 and I think once we are done we will try Horizons over the rest of this school year and summer. Thank you so much for this video because it's helped solidify my decision.
