Baborak lets his air do the work. Sometimes he lets his chin go up depending on what type of sound he wants to make.

absolutely he does re: air.... about "he lets his chin go up depending what type of sound he wants to make", what is your source for that belief? did he tell you that? are you inferring that from something? my impression is that his chin movement is more tied to the range he's playing in, rather than the tone color.

@@baguettelord9741 yes, 1) find recordings of horn players you love and play along, 2) set aside time in your practice to focus on making sound that you LOVE. don't worry about making it "correct" or 'good' or like anybody else tells you it should should. just play a tone, and see how much you can enjoy it, and how you wish it would sound, and allow your mind and your imagination to guide the sound quality.
