It's funny how Hornady won't have anything to do with the 6.8 Western, but Browning and Winchester have a bunch of rifles chambered for the PRC cartridges. Merry Christmas!

@@elevatorguy1841 it’s because the 6.8 western is superior to anything Hornady rounds. ALL THE CREED MORE AND PRC rounds are overrated. They are junk. Hornady is scared of the 6.8 western that’s why they want to get rid of it. I will never support Hornady ammunition. There is a lot better choices than Hornady.

My youngest brother has a Browning X Bolt Gen 1 Hells Canyon Speed Long Range in 6.8 Western. Nice rifle but ammo picky. The only factory ammo that shot MOA for him was the Browning Long Range Pro. So he actually did some reloading and uses those 145 ELDX and they shot sub MOA for him. I believe that he is using IMR 4350, not 100% though.

I'm wondering if the testing at short range gives the bullet a bad rap. I don't think it will grenade at 300 to 500 yards at 2300 fps or less. I think Frontline Rejects did a test at distance. I'll have to look back on their videos. Merry Christmas!

☹️ They Aren't The Answer To Hunting! If You Watch Gavin of Ultimate Reloader (2 minutes into His 300 prc vs. 300 wm Video), He Shot a Deer At 60 yards With a 212 ELD-X and It Didn't Go All The Way Through! Certainly Not What You Want On Elk! Conversely, Vortex Just Did a Podcast on Their 300 wsm Wildcat, and That Same Bullet Failed To Open When Shot Into Ballistics Gel (Great Penetration, But No Mushroom)! Their "Performance" is "Inconsistent" at Best! 🙄

I've heard the same thing on them not going through and through but, I've shot several deer with my 270 at ranges from 50-350 yds and all have passed through on broadside shots. I've seen one out of my sons 6.5 creedmoor and one out of my 270 that were both quartering to shots where the bullet didn't exit but it did go through the front shoulder and came to rest under the hide on the off side. Neither deer made it more than 30 yds before piling up. Sometimes I can't help but wonder if bullets such as the eld-x are just too soft for high velocity close range impact to hold together? It seems that for me at least they really do a good job at more normal hunting distances at holding together and penetrating well.
