I was sent this Hornby Class 43 by a chap called Martin who said it wasn't running well going forwards. Merch - oobillmerch.cr... Support - ko-fi.com/oobi... FAQ - ko-fi.com/post...

"Had a go, then wished he hadn't": a familiar phrase, but heard a little less these days as I learn from your tutorials, Bill & my own mistakes. But you know, sometimes you just need to call in an expert. Who you're gonna call? Ghostbusters. No, OOBill!

Well done. You dealt with that jiggery-faffery like a boss.

Always a joy to watch your videos Bill. Another great repair, HST light cables can be a little confusing when first undo them all. Pics before dismantle always helps with anything you look to do. Have four HSTs but got caught once with putting diode on wrong side of the bulb.. haha just needed to swap them around by the little holes; was fun though having lights on both ends when going forwards. Looking forward to a layout update; progress looks good from the clips: All best Marc from Leighton Buzzard

I recently resurrected an old Hornby HST I had when I was a child having been inspired to give it a chance by your videos. It now runs on DCC alongside the modern Hornby super detailed one and at speed (and a relative distance) it looks just the job with a couple of extra shorty MK3s.

I see allot of work on the layout and some strategically placed track workers busy on a switch so looking good and I'll expect a layout update at some point. Fairly strait forward repair and rewire plus traction tire replacement. I have had the traction tires missing and the owner did not know they were. This lets those wheels sink too deep and sometimes hit the sleepers or have problems with the switches not to mention much less pulling power if at all. Sorry for rambling but I'm north of 70 years and like my father I have many stories, lol. Anyway, great repair and video, Jersey Bill

I love the older models and their Ringfield motors, also the Lima version. They came from an era when things we’re built to last,I reckon they will last 100 years plus! 😊👍✌️

As always, a great informative video. On the lighting-front for HSTs, I've used one of the LED kits available on the market. These allow for white lights when running forward and red ones behind and can be done for DC and DCC locos. It's a really worthwhile modification in my view and doesn't take long. You will need to mask the inside of the cab and nose cone to prevent light spillage but all-in-all, a worthy upgrade for these nice engines.

Another enjoyable repair Bill. I think I have asked before but can you tell me again what is your magic “shuuush” spray. Thanks Peter from downunder.

They are an easy job to work on, as long as you remember what goes where. Look good running as a set at a decent speed, That reminds me, do you ever clean your manky brush or just do you replace it every 3 months?
