"he'll be stroking a kangaroo and he'll love it" 😂😂 Madness... Magnetic couplings are brilliant, get the pivoting ones from Hunt, they work great for tighter corners... Accruacale do a few interesting ones ... You can also use hot glue in the NEM socket but it's a bit more permanent... Ask me how I know...😂 P.s Don't drink shandy.... Cider & Blackcurrant 😎😎

@@doubleodave theyre 3D printed mate so you need to be a little bit more delicate with them -* I've found just shaving a few thou off the little legs helps them seat much easier - but other than that I can't say I've had much issue with the hunts pal

Try Hornby 7400 imitation vac pipes. I have used them on European conflats in a rake of 10 - no issues with length - they are spot on

Hi Dave. Just did an unboxing and used hornby magnetic couplings, different than yours pipe type. You can get them in two different lengths. Tell you what Dave love them, wish I got them years ago. Great review Dave. Us soft southerners got a lot of you lovely Yorkshire drinkers into Guinness because that's all we asked for on holiday. We'll make men of you.🤣 Stay safe buddy. ....Pete....

Totally agree about the hunt couplings, great idea, poorly executed. They are just so brittle and there’s such a variety of size and quality in each pack.

Damn! I struggle to pinpoint the accent after all these years. I moved to Australia about 40 years ago. I honestly thought you were from my old neck of the woods (Oldham). I guess SE Lancs and SW Yorks are similar. Never tried the Hornby couplers, the Hunt ones are all right. I print my own these days. Cheers!

I'm glad that people are waking up to the Hunts couplings not being fit for purpose. I said as much a couple of years ago on another KZbin channels Facebook group and got shot down in flames by the keyboard warriors. If you want to try pivoting magnetic couplings they are available on eBay from a guy who trades as Adrian Mole ( they're actually called porterhouse couplings). If you message him he will print special lengths if required. Much better than hunts but cheaper than Hornby.

Yeah there’s definitely a strange protection of them isn’t there and innocent folk buying packs. If I start singing their praises and driving around in a Porsche 911 you know they’ve got to me too 😂😂

Hi, your commentary is very good, you do make me laugh with some of the things you say, great layout and contents, Hunt couplings are not as good as Hornby’s magnetic offerings, keep up the great work, I’d like to hear you narrate Thomas the tank engine episodes in the future and postman pate adult edition, thanks for sharing.

Hi dave, great video once again. Couplings, it looks like 100% prefer the hornby ones hunts are not bad Couplings you do get some snaps has I have in the past but most of my rolling stock are on them. Hunt Coupling any negative feedback of them drop them a message with your issue so they can improve the Couplings in question and alterations and replacement can be sorted 👍 keep up the great work your channel is growing really fast 👏 look forward to the next one kind regards Gary.

Cheers for the message Gary, I’ve found around 50% of my hunts have broken and 100% need black tack to hold them in place on anything more than very short rakes. I messaged them a few days ago as I was informed they had much stronger ones now but the reply I got was a bit vague so I’ll just go elsewhere, the perfect connector is still to be discovered. 👍

@doubleodave yes I spoke to Chris Bower and Chris Hunt a while ago, and they did say they were looking at other options to make them stronger out of other materials, maybe something more drewabile maybe a stronger plastic.

Do you reckon these couplings work with Hornby’s 4 wheel coaches?
@doubleodave4 ай бұрын
It’s a bit of a gamble I’m afraid, they’re no good for Bachmann mk2s but theyre ok on hornby mk3s several of mine are PVA’d I’m sticking out a bit to make them longer in order to work. I don’t have any experience of the smaller coaches. I imagine these would work but possibly might need to be glued not fully into the socket if that makes sense?
