A modern special edition of a tooling dating back around 30 years ago.
From what Hornby said, this model came more out of the people requesting it then from them proposing it. It was originally supposed to be a one off model to represent a class 156 wrapped in a commemorative RAF 100 years anniversary livery for an event where a real class 156 was wrapped in the same livery. The public liked it so much that Hornby released it as a production model in 2019.
This version of the Class 156 was made with many liveries during its long production run between 2 manufacturers (Lima and now Hornby). The Hornby version runs a lot better then the older Lima, mainly because of the ring field motor that required quite a bit of maintenance to stay in tip top shape.
