Excellent review, and most useful, thanks! Think I will give this one a miss as I’m a slow speed fan. Your videos are just the right length and beautifully produced - and your delivery is SO GOOD! I came for the review and stayed for the production qualities... 😁 Cheers, Andrew

Thanks Andrew! Yeah the slow speed on this one is overshadowed because the Pecketts and the Ruston are SO good. If I wasn't familiar with those then it would probably be a different story. So glad you enjoyed the video! Haha, I try to make them as entertaining and engaging as possible and keeping a high production standard is just part of that I guess. Thanks for watching 😃

Personally not had an issue with its slow speed performance once its run in and long as everything is clean.

Nice job thanks for sharing. I like using the Hornby Railroad 0-4-0's for shunting, they run really well and are cheap. The Sentinel is a good looking model but needs to be closer to £30 for me. All the best, kevin.

Thanks! I agree, the Hornby Railroad 0-4-0's are much better at shunting nowadays. I've always wondered why Hornby haven't been a bit more creative with them as it seems like there's a big demand for a proper budget range. Maybe we'll see the Sentinel chassis repurposed for something like that in the future, but I wouldn't hold my breath! Thanks for watching 😃

The back of the real train looks the same. the grill isn’t really a grill on the real one ,it’s just a patterned metal plate.

Good to know. Glad my "observation" was indeed correct then 😁 Thanks for watching 👍

This looks like a cool diesel

It's definitely got a certain charm about it! Bigger than the Ruston but still looks great on my micro layout. Thanks for watching 👍

The place I volunteer at own this In real life. They're currently working on it. We also own Betty & Jean. Very cool engines.

That's awesome, great to hear it's being restored! They definitely are very cool engines and I think Hornby did a really good job of replicating them. Thanks for watching 😃

Nice little loco! I have same one myself 😁 I personally use mine with kadee couplings. Not sure about the blue interior though! 😂 If you plan to run it on DCC maybe you could get it fitted with a stay alive - help it get it over those dead spots. I can see your thinking ahead for your heritage layout as 'Graham' has survived into preservation.....
@ThatModelRailwayGuy4 жыл бұрын
Yeah the blue interior is a little odd but at least there's something there. A stay alive would be a good idea if I ever go DCC, although there's not much space to fit one in! Yes, I did see 'Graham' had been preserved but it's definitely a happy coincidence in this case 😂 I've had the model for a while now, long before I had the idea of modelling a preserved railway - but I'm glad it's worked out! Thanks for watching 👍

I just looked at some pictures but indeed the rear grille being blank is prototypical! It looks like it was just meant to be purely aesthatic.
@ThatModelRailwayGuy4 жыл бұрын
Ah fantastic, thanks for checking that out! I thought it would be a bit weird of Hornby to go to the trouble of doing it on one end and not the other so great to know that it is prototypical. Thanks for watching 😃

The only things about the real Sentinels I don’t like are the low doors, the amount of times I’ve whacked my head on the top of the door frame is unreal, apart from that they are really nice locos and a model version is sure to be bought for my layout...
@ThatModelRailwayGuy4 жыл бұрын
Ouch, that doesn't sound fun! At least you're unlikely to have that problem with the Hornby one 😂 Thanks for watching 👍
