Hornby just released new LBSC coaches (which I just watched on Sam's Trains) and they look quite a bit nicer to this Annie & Clarabel

That would be because Annie and Clarabel in the TV series were actually LBSC Stroudley 4-wheelers kitbashed with new roofs (and, in Clarabel's case, panels over her end windows to give her an ersatz brake end). But since Hornby only had the one 3-compartment 4-wheel coach when they launched the range, well...

Have you considered using the Hornby ones? The Bachmann ones burn out very easily and require constant maintenance because of the bad design of the motors.

@@daylightman8459 not really. I've had my other two models for a very long time. And i don't like the hornby versions (apart from Murdoch and Oliver) at all, I'm not going to lie about them. And the hornby ones are also very expensive. But, thank you for the warning + suggestion :)

That's definitely a newer Hornby Thomas! The running plate being painted instead of bare blue is the key (pity they didn't update the box photo!). And with that painted running plate, he *completely* blows his Bachmann counterpart away right out of the box. Bachmann's Thomas just has _way_ too much working against him. The face sculpt is off because he's the first Bachmann ever did and they hadn't got the hang of it, the cab is completely filled in, he's got no front coupler, and his motor while reliable is sorely lacking in power. Bit of a qualifier: Hornby based their Thomas engines off the real-life loco... _if_ they had a spare mold of it already. If not, they either had a go with a close-ish existing mold (James, Edward, Emily, Class 40/D261 (who they used a Class 37 for instead)), or if that was completely unworkable (and the engine was a tank engine) they grudgingly made a new shell from scratch (Percy, Toby, Bill and Ben). Of the "Use a close-ish engine instead" models, only James (who ends up being a commercial version of Awdry's own James kitbash) worked particularly well (D261 is passable, but not great). For Edward, Hornby would have been better off rounding the firebox of the old Triang 2P tooling than leaving the cylinders off the D49 and giving it the sake kind of wonky funnel they gave Thomas. Emily, they just plain needed to bite the bullet and make a new tooling. None of Hornby's existing Singles were ever going to pass as the GNR G-class in a million years. The wonky oversize face is the icing on the failure cake. Bachmann is the clear winner with her. The new-tooling shells *all* suffer from gigantism, and Toby additionally suffers from vertical stretching (because his shell was originally made for a bulky clockwork motor) to the point of clearance problems. Toby's only edges over his Bachmann counterpart are power and closed cowcatchers. Detail-wise they're equal in quality aside from the cowcatcher gap, and the Bachmann model's proportions are much closer to accurate. Bill and Ben... The Hormby pair have open cabs? The Bachmann pair have better detailing aside from that, better size, and better valve gear. Percy... Now this is somewhat more of a contest and leans a bit more towards Hornby. Neither is really more accurate, however Hornby Percy has more realistic detailing on the body, a better face sculpt, couplers both ends, and more power. But Bachmann Percy _does_ have better size, and better valve gear.

I still have my Thomas the Tank Engine that I got from a set for Christmas back in 2001/2002 I think. It doesn't run unfortunately, you can hear the motor spin but the train doesn't move.

You are correct about how bad All Engines Go(The 2D animation streaming today) is. Like that show is so F*****G bad, WHAT WAS MATTEL THINKING. Who the actual hell came up with that idea?!, and I know it wasn't Britt Alcraft, because....anyway, the song they just made called Welcome Ashima is just very bad. Like, who ever the director of all engines go is, just don't feature any characters other than Thomas, Percy, and Diesel, because clearly Andrew Brenner does a way better job, and his team can actually take the time to correctly pronounce the characters' names, because remember, production has to be perfect. When I am like 20 or 30, I would hate to meet someone who is a fan of All Engines go, and remembers Thomas by All Engines Go, and only All Engines Go. Aside from the rant, Nice video!

Yay you have Hornby Thomas! What do you mean by a DCC motor? You only have to hard wire a DCC decoder onto the existing motor.
