yeah USA ho trains have different couplers than the UK but I have a lot of the older ho trains and some newer bachmann ho trains oh I have a old bachmann 4-4-0 US steam train

don't run your train on carpet it will break your train put paper under the track to prevent that from happening I'm a model train expert I've made that train before too and if you don't want your train broken put paper under the track

you shouldn't put track on carpet. It will destroy the motor and the train will not move (it will physically destroy the motor, so it just clogs the system and it just stops)
