Absolutely superb! I had the pleasure of seeing two of these double headed on Making Tracks at Great Electric Train Show. Pete Waterman has two of these. They're amazing!! I want one 😍

Great review Mike, thanks, love the level of detail knowledge

Hi, I bought the Suttons class 24 in Derby Research livery a couple of years ago, not a cheap model (But then nothing is now), but the level of detail is way over and above the competition.

I have been looking to get one of those too. I have their blue 24 and a Bachmann RTC new model 24 but it's not like having a Sutton's version.

Literally the real thing xeroxed down to 1:76 scale, would love to see some other loco types such as the old WR hydraulics done to this outstanding standard

Amazed the market can support 3 lots of class 25

I can't wait. I have one on order with sound and stay alive from Sutton's Locomotive Workshop - green with full yellow ends. I have one of their class 24s too.

Is there any way that you can tap into the circuit board get the fan working or change the fan so that it becomes a working one?

Those look amazing, a shame the excellent sounds mentioned weren’t showcased on the video and the loco was just tottered round without being opened up at all!

That Sulzer Sound! Redefining "phat" one model at a time.

This model is the benchmark in British outline diesels, by a long margin. Everything exudes sheer class all the way from the wrapping it is shipped in, through the 'biscuit tin' that contains the shelf display style plinth the model is mounted to. And then there is the model itself, which is superfluous. Other recently released models are very good indeed, but absolutely nothing comes close to the experience of taking delivery of a SLW 25.

Hornby class 25s are still running after 50 years, we'll see how many of there are running in the 2070s!!!
@gf374192 ай бұрын
They look great but like all of the other sound models that most channels review, they are driven on barely half power. Any chance for future reviews, that they can be driven a bit more enthusiasticly like they were on the mainline then we can hear what they are like on full chat?
@hornbymagАй бұрын
It's a compromise for the camera. If they are run too fast for full 'thrash' then the motion blur is too high and the detail in the model is lost. We usually run models around 55-60% speed which is ample enough to get the sounds coming through but still retaining visual detail.
@gf37419Ай бұрын
@hornbymag could the drive hold feature not be used so the loco can be thrashed at a low speed? Low speed pull away on a heavy load? Not every clip, but a couple would give us all a thorough demonstration of the sound file whilst not losing the visual quality.

The Class 25 is my second favourite diesel locomotive. The Class 31 thrashes it to the first place.

In the past I found model diesel locos boring, until I heard them. Nothing quite like a quality sound profile to bring them to life.
@clagfest2 ай бұрын
I can only concur with the above comments. If you drove a loco like that in the 1980's, you'd be dragged out of the seat. Skin em back, and let's hear those speakers get a proper workout.

I remember model railways as a kid in the 60 ..70s….my goodness how it’s evolved into what sounds confusing……….by the looks of the technology,thank goodness Action Man didn’t get the same treatment……he,d be attacking the neighbours dog.
